'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Guzan Relishing World Cup Chance

Brad Jnr believes the USA's Confederations Cup exploits were the perfect boost ahead of the World Cup this month.

Speaking on the Official Site said that the experience of playing in South Africa and coping with the heat and temperatures gives them the perfect boost as most countries will still be trying to acclimatise as the games get under way.

In last summers Confederation clash, the US of A finished as runners up to Brazil, beating Spain in the semi finals so are heading into the WC full of confidence anyway.

'The World Cup is a huge deal for us and for everyone connected with football.

'I think not many people gave us a chance last summer but to go and beat those teams was a huge deal, it opened a few eyes.'

Brad Jnr adds that he thinks other teams and pundits alike will treat the squad with more respect than before because of this, as he believes the USA have now proven they are no longer pushovers in games.

He's also delighted to be facing England first, and he says the team can't wait to get on the pitch and get on with it now.

Is certainly going to make an interesting game, wonder how many Villa boys will start?

Can't see him playing many games with Howard their number one.

I hope that Brad Guzan gets a chance, and I hope he gets it against us on Saturday evening. That'll certainly improve our chances of kicking off the group stage with a victory. The U.S. will, I am sure, surprise quite a few people. They've come on in leaps and bounds over the course of the last few years, and they are certainly more than capable of giving Fabio Capello's lads a rough ride in the opening game.

Thinking about it, you have to even wonder whether Brad Guzan, because of the extremely limited amount of first team football he played last season, will start the tournament as backup to Timmy Howard. Surely Marcus Hahnemann will be favourite to be the USA's number two, after what can only be described as a fairly decent campaign between the sticks for the men from Molinuex.
