A Free Signing Anyone? AVFC Press Transfer Talk

A Free Signing Anyone? AVFC Press Transfer Talk

The Mirror today claim we are after another Bulgarian Petrov to add to the team!

31-year-old Martin Petrov is available on a free after being released by Manchester City and apparently Villa are interested along with Spurs, Everton, Bolton, West Ham and pretty much any other team you choose to pluck out of thin air I guess!

Not often that sort of quality is available for free is it?

This isn't directly Villa related by The Sun quote West Ham co-owner David Gold saying that England goalkeeper Robert Green is available. The 29-year-old has one year left on hi Hammers contract and the Upton Park outfit don't want him to run down his contract and leave on a free.

Villa have been linked with Green before and with Brad Friedel approaching 40 years of age, it might make sense?

Oh and on the manager merry-go-round, the Mirror are saying that Liverpool will make a formal approach for Fulham boss Roy Hodgson this week, which should stop the speculation over Martin O'Neill.

Hmmmm not sure, love his style, he has a nasty shot and has flair and EXPERIENCE. We need his mate Ireland more. Rob Green Yes, but a this time I think we need Parker more and we should offer fringe players as part of the deal...Harry would love this kind of deal at Spurs...getting rid of dead wood and buyiong for a knock down price! Come on MON.

i don't mind the idea petrov coming here, but he is 31.... couple of sites reporting we've bid 8mil for the guy from anderlecht - Boussouffa?
09/06/2010 11:02:00
Rather have Ireland, and if Milner is going, then boussoufa seems more likely replacement... Petrov would realy be a squad signing, as we still have young and downing ....

I'd rather have Ireland, but he'd be a good signing on a free. I don't think i'd pay money for him. I'd rather spend money on Mbark Boussoufa, he seems like a quality young player, 16 goals and 20 assists this season for Anderlecht, and Belgian footballer of the year for the last 2 years running.

Petrov mk 2 I reckon would be a good squad addition. Undoubted flair. Regular in Europa League and Cups but a sub in the Premiership who can come on and change games IMO. Would that be enough for him? I agree DJ may play more centrally on occassions. Excelled there for Boro
09/06/2010 13:15:00
I'd take him, gives us more competition for the wing roles which is something we lacked last season. Also being a free transfer, you can't really go wrong financially.
09/06/2010 14:04:00
its a no from me just think there is better out there and we should be going for better
bells are ringin

Petrov on a free?!?! Sign him up. Injury record a bit worrying but he is incredibly talented. Seen him a couple of times and was baffled that he didn't play regularly for Man C. Not getting someone of his quality on a free is insane... We might even be able to sign him and then re-sell him back to Man C :P
