Bohemians Friendly Confirmed

After rumours on the forum over the last few days, it has now been confirmed that Villa will face Bohemians in a pre season friendly.

The Villa boys travel to Dublin on Saturday 24 July and will turn out against the Irish side at Dalymount Park at 3pm.

Bohemians are the third most successful club in the League of Ireland's history and are unlikely to give us an easy start to our pre season campaign.

Pre-Season Games Confirmed

July 24: Bohemians v Villa
July 27: Walsall v Villa
July 31: Villa v Feyenoord
August 1: Villa v Benfica
August 6: Villa v Valencia

Bohs are arguably the best team in Ireland at present. They have won the Airtricity Premier League for the last two seasons and are the current holders of the Setanta All-Ireland Cup. The last time we played them (1990) we saw them off 3-0. I'll be pleasurably surprised if we won by a similar margin this time round. Indeed I'll be happy to end up with a victory by the slimmest margin. I'm 90% sure I'll be there and if so, Mike, I'll be happy to do a report.

The harder the test the better from where I sit. Pre season isn't about results strictly, it's about fitness and getting people sharp which is whilst I loved the Peace Cup exploits last season the fact those players weren't given the chance to follow it through is a slight disappointment is the grand scheme of things....

If the Boh's can push whatever we put out to dig deep we will benefit from it. To be honest my idea of a true pre season would be playing Chelsea, Man U, Barca and Madrid - what else could get us in the mood lol

BBJ any report, team sheet etc would be appreciated beyond your wildest dreams - goes for all who read this site and attend. Nothing like a first hand account because scores never tell the true picture. I thank you (and hopefully others) in advance, I look forward to it and I doubt I'm the only one.

Pity its not Glentoran eh BBJ? Hope our Irish Villans get to witness a fairly strong Villa line-up, with a decent smattering of new signings on show.
