Heskey To Get The Elbow?

From Vital England:

Who is under threat?

Heskey has been a real favourite of Capello's but he has started to slip away and has been in pretty poor form for Villa recently, when he has even played.

Bent has never really got much of a chance for England, but when he has he has not always impressed really so I am not convinced by him on the international stage - at this point.

Who misses out?

Heskey - Crouch has his role now, and can pretty much do what Heskey does minus the strength add that to the genuine goal threat of Bent and that 'should' see him get the nod, unless he has a mare today?

I know Heskey offers us that 'power' upfront, but does Rooney not offer this and a genuine goal threat too? Goals win games, hence why Bent 'could' force his way in ahead of the Villa man...

Well its either gonna be heskey or bent and to be honest villa player or not bent deserves it more and gives england way way way more than heskey.

And there was me hoping that it was going to be O'Neill's elbow Emile would be feeling. Fat chance. It is utterly absurd that a player who wouldn't have been good enough to get into any Villa side of at least the last 20 years - and more likely alot longer back than that - is in with a chance of going to a World Cup. Heskey is out of his depth on any kind of football pitch, nevermind an international one. It's worth considering whether Gabby would be going to this world cup if Heskey had never signed for Villa. My guess is he probably would. Just how many Villa player's international careers are being undermined? You can perhaps add Luke Young, Curtis Davies, Nigel Reo-Coker, and perhaps even Ashley Young to the list. Still at least Milner is one Villa player going to the world cup. Assuming he isn't sold first!
