Official Comment On Zigic

Official Comment On Zigic

The club have today released brief statement on the Official Site concerning the rumours surrounding Nikola Zigic.

The comment reads:

'Comments reportedly made by Nikola Zigic's agent, Milan Calasan, are untrue.

'Aston Villa did not make any '11th hour' attempt to contact the Serbian striker's representatives.

'No contact was made by the club on the day that Zigic arrived in Birmingham - or at any time before or after.'

When we were last linked with the player when he was at Valencia back in 2008, as rumoured abounded and took on a life of their own, O'Neill commented that there wasn't a grain of truth in the stories circulating in the press and that he didn't even know who Zigic's agent was.

It appears the only change two years on is everybody now knows who Zigic's agent is, so fair play on him becoming a household name in Villa and Blues' homes the last week. I'm sure he'll sleep better at night thinking he's a temporary Z lister of irrelevant people acting like celebrities that we all wish we never remembered.

Although credit where it's due, what a way to dupe the Blues fans into taking Zigic into their hearts based on the PR tactic of 'liar, liar pants on fire'.

It's crass behaviour from our point of view, I'd say such BS in an effort to ingratiate yourself at a new club is a thorough downright insult to Zigic's new fans.

Not that many of them will realise that though. Go along with anything to think they've got one over on us eh.

Good to see my article on here from about 2 days ago managed to be 100% true and the official Villa site all but used exactly the same argument and quotes that I used. Did anyone really believe that the scum got one of our targets?? Really??? Really???

Bluenoses. You have to love 'em. Even in the most dark and depressing of days/times, their comedic value should never be under estimated. How on God's green earth could those clowns from Brummagem B9, really believe, for even the briefest of moments, that they could actually capture a signing in who we were interested?

my mind is cast back to the signing of fabian delph and leeds commended us for being 100% professional. city were trying to come in over the top of us but despite this, leeds would only sell delph to us. for this reason, i have no doubt that if villa say there was no interest for zigic, then there was no interest. all in all however, good publicity for zigic. could have been useful at villa though with our crossing game given he is 6ft 1000 inches!
