'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Villa Defence Will Only Get Better

You can't get rid of him that easily, Freddy Bouma is back on the official site discussing the tremendous efforts of our defence last season.

Our former left back picked out Richard Dunne for special praise after our long season, calling him 'fantastic' following his colossal performances and Bouma believes our defence as a whole will only get better having now had a season's worth of experience in playing together.

'It was a tremendous season defensively,' he said on the Official Site.

'I think Richard was our best defender, he was outstanding. James came in and he did great alongside Richard too, they clicked immediately.'

Unsurprisingly Bouma also has plenty of praise for Martin and Randy, and whilst he'll longer be involved, he is sure the club is in good hands and most definitely heading in the right direction.

'It is bright times ahead. I think Villa already have a good squad and with some extra signings from the gaffer, the squad will be even stronger.

'There have been big charges for the better since I joined. Since the new Chairman and the gaffer came in, Villa have turned around. It's been really good.'
