ASTON VILLA FPA SUPPORTS 'KidsOut` CHARITY

Former players attended the 'black-tie` dinner held at Villa Park on Thursday 13th May, to raise funds for the KidsOut charity, which helps thousands of children every year across the UK who are affected by disadvantage.

Over 500 attendees participated in a superbly run 'Question of Sport` competition, expertly hosted by former world snooker champion and BBC TV QOS captain John Parrott MBE. Other fundraising games and an auction, which included a bid of £1,400 to play a charity match against the Aston Villa Old Stars, helped to raise over £50,000 on the night.

Representing the former players association were Jimmy Brown, Karl Court, Alan Deakin, Pat Heard, Ken McNaught, Chris Nicholl, Neil Rioch, and Steve Staunton.

ASTON VILLA OLD STARS 'UPDATE`

The 'Aston Villa Old Stars` football team emerged victorious in all three games they played during May, whilst raising thousands of pounds for a variety of charities. The 'Old Stars` to have taken the field so far this year are Darren Bradley, Des Bremner, Mark Burke, John Capaldi, Martin Carruthers, Gordon Cowans, Tony Daley, Derek Dudley, Colin Gibson, Pat Heard, Mark Kinsella, Ken McNaught, Paul Merson, Tony Morley, David Norton, John Pearson, Gavin Price, Neil Rioch, Bryan Small, Steve Staunton, Shaun Teale and Ian Ward.

ASTON VILLA FPA AT E.F.P.A. CONFERENCE

Last month, Gen Secretary Karl Court and Neil Rioch attended the European Former Players Associations annual conference held in Liverpool. Chaired by EFPA President Ramon Alfonseda (ex Barcelona & Spain), guest speakers included Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Geoff Hurst, Gordon Taylor OBE, & Dave Whelan (chairman, Wigan Athletic FC).

MORE FPA SUPPORT FOR A GREAT CAUSE

Former 'Holte End Hero` Chico Hamilton and Neil Rioch were guests at the Federation of Master Builders` 'Charity Spring Ball` held at the Burlington Hotel, Birmingham on Saturday 15th May. They took along memorabilia for the auction and helped raise funds towards the £10,000 for the 'Tiny Babies Big Appeal` charity, which aims to open a brand new neonatal unit at Birmingham Women's Hospital.
