A report in the Birmingham Mail today backs up a rumour I heard yesterday!
The Blues reporter Colin Tattum says that Villa tried to grab Nikola Zigic from under the (blue) noses of Birmingham City.
The Serbian, who has been linked several times to Villa, was apparently wanted by Martin O'Neill and Zigic's agent claims Villa 'begged' to wait until MON was available to talk to the player. O'Neill is currently on holiday and wanted the player to wait.
'They begged us to wait a while. Without Martin O`Neill no decision can be taken, and he`s on holiday. In that case, there was nothing more logical than to finish a job with the club where all the doors were open.' Full article, which points out Blues have now spent £12m already with Zigic and Man Utd's Ben Foster : www.birminghammail.net
