Poll results, which striker do you want to see at Villa? Poll Results - Which Striker Do You Want At Villa?

A full run down - due to the fact I don't have a life - of who won the most man of the match wins last season on the Vital Villa polls, who were the runners up etc. Yup, I really do need to get out more. Full results: Who Won The Most MotM Votes Through The Season?

Our last poll asked What type of player do Villa most need this summer? The overwhelming winner with 87% was striker. Full results and comments: Click Here

Some fantastic black and white photos of Villa on the official site: www.avfc.co.uk

I thought these quotes were worth picking up on and publishing from Villa owner and Chairman Randy Lerner. I'm not 100% sure of the original source, I would assume this is from the press conference he had recently. Randy said with reference to the economic hit all businesses and 'men of means' so to speak have taken and whether Villa have to sell etc. Quotes: Randy Lerner Still Has Financial Clout

Obviously a lot of transfer talk now, here are a few:

A few reports claiming that Villa will hold emergency meetings with James Milner + the talk of player swaps + £20m from Man City: Milner/Meetings/Swap Shop & Other Transfer News

Bumper transfer rumours: Bumper Villa Transfer Talk - None Of It Good!

Milner comments; 'Do I expect to be at Villa next season? I don't know. I've worked as hard as I can and concentrated on club football while the season has been on. Now it has finished, I'm focusing on England - and that's the only thing I am focusing on.' Full article: James Milner Not Sure On Villa Future

Fieldy: Luke Young has admitted his future lies away from Villa Park and it doesn't seem he appreciates the managers comments about players who can't get in the team.I'm not sure who grabbed the initial interview as it's everywhere today, but Luke Young is resigned to the fact he will probably be moving on this summer even though he'd prefer to stay at the club and play. Full article: Bye Bye Luke

It isn't the weekend anymore, but Steve Wade's weekly column is always worth a read no matter what day of the week! Something For The Weekend (283)

Villa have announced plans to take part in a pre-season tournament 'the Guadiana Cup' in Portugal v Benfica and Feyenoord. Dates: July 30 and August 1. Sunday August 1, Villa v Benfica

So the press are having a field day linking James Milner to all and sundry at all sorts of prices, with one bid confirmed by Aston Villa from Manchester City. The latest I saw was from a gossip site saying that Manchester United will bid £28million. IF Man Utd come in for him, I can't see him not wanting to move to be honest, he is the obvious 'replacement' for Paul Scholes who was their midfield master for many years obviously. And that leads us nicely into the last poll which asked: What would you sell James Milner for? Results: 41% Say Don't Sell James Milner At ANY Price

Olof Mellberg gone but not forgotten! I brought the end of season award 'best beard' out of retirement to see where we all stood on this crucial issue and it seems we stand firm! lol
The options as put forward my Mystic Mug were either Carlos Cuellar or Olof 'the bearded wonder' Mellberg. You'll have to bear with me, I'm on drugs....! 79% voted 'Olof Mellberg - he isn't here but his beard lives' 21% were wrong...! Nice try Carlos Cuellar, close but no cigar.

Voiceoftheholte: Empty Villa Seats - A Comparison As fans we want the best players and we want to challenge for honours. Ideally we would like to do this playing attractive football. This doesn't happen that often.... Full article: Empty Seats My Lord?

Villa fan class of 82 sees the light: I Have Seen The Light!

Fieldy: Not only are Villa the best value for money around, but Stan Petrov can't wait to beat the Baggies either. Speaking on the Official Site Petrov admitted that he was delighted to see the Baggies promoted and relishes the promise of another set of derby day clashes next season. Not only because the fans love to hate them of course, but because we have a pretty good record in derby matches. He says that it's going to be a fantastic season for the Midlands with Villa, Blues, Wolves and now the Albion set to fight it out for league points and local glory and he's not worried one jot. Details of best value: Villa Topping The Local Tables

End Of Season Awards: Player of season The results... queue drum roll: Yes of course it is, James Milner with 55% Full results: Vital Villa Player Of The Season

The Villa youngsters have once again won the prestigious Hong Kong 7's. Villa beat Ajax 3-1, West Ham 3-0 and then in the finals Rangers 3-2.

Terry Venables thinks James Milner has the ability to excel in the central ground for England in the World Cup if Gareth Barry is ruled out of the summer showpiece. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk

Ian Taylor is thrilled to see three Villa players in England's provisional World Cup squad - and believes it is a great reflection on the season Martin O'Neill's team have enjoyed. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk
