Villa Transfer Talk & Marmite Player Linked!

Villa Transfer Talk & Marmite Player Linked!

The Daily Mail say that Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland, linked to Villa as part of a makeweight in a James Milner deal, has now handed in a transfer request. Apparently the 23-year-old doesn't feel he is a part of Roberto Mancini's plans.

Other reports say that Manchester City are looking at Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta. Not sure if that means an end to their interest in James Milner? Surely there are only so many midfielders any one team can fit in!?

The Sun have a repeat of yesterday's rumour that Villa will try to entice West Ham midfielder Scott Parker to Villa Park if Milner leaves. The paper again claims it was £25million we turned down for Milner where other reports say it was closer to £20m. Parker has three years left on his contract and with no love lost between Villa and the Hammers new bosses (Sullivan and Gold who have said that Parker isn't for sale) this might well prove a tough one.

The Sun also claim that if Villa were able to buy Parker then Villa right-back Luke Young might move to Upton Park.

James Nursey at The Mirror says that Martin O'Neill will be watching with interest because Appy Arry at Spurs has said both Jermaine Jenas and Robbie Keane are available this summer.

How many times will Villa be linked with the Tottenham midfielder?! The link returns ever transfer window!

Just spoke with a Spurs fan Wonderkid Bale who said 'you are welcome to him, in fact please take Jenas, he is the most overrated player Spurs signed since the last one!'. I suggested Jenas appears to be a marmite player to which he replied 'no, I like marmite'. When I pushed he explained that Jenas is 'one of those players who had amazing potential but never quite fulfilled it as he is too inconsistent'.

Whether a move would re-energize him or not is the question I guess!

A report in the Mirror back in March claimed we'd bid around £9million for Keane, reports over the last week have said up to £15million which is on the expensive side for the 29-year-old, then again, it isn't my money!

Spurs meanwhile are apparently after Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy but this report says that Bellamy doesn't want to return to London.

Scott Parker could turn out to be a ncie signing if that went ahead. Ireland is obviously one most people seem to want, including me. Not so sure about Robbie Keane, I wouldn't be paying anymore than the 9million rumoured there thats for sure! and as for Jermaine Jenas, I kind of agree with the Spurs fan. He'd be fine as back-up on the bench, but I doubt that's what he wants and I'd rather have somebody that we know will come and have a good chance of making an impact in our first team.
