Milner/Meetings/Swap Shop & Other Transfer News

It is claimed today in The Telegraph amongst others, that Aston Villa now plan to hold 'emergency' talks with James Milner before he jets off to the World Cup.

Before the recent comments from Milner (asked if he was going to be a Villa player next season he said 'I don't know') + the bid from Manchester City, it was planned that they would all sit down and talk about a new deal after the World Cup.

The report says that Milner and a PFA rep (or his agent depending on which report you read) will meet Villa's CEO Paul Faulkner, after the England friendlies v Mexico and Japan are out of the way.

It is suggested Villa want a verbal commitment from James.

The same report also dismisses the press links to this week with enquires for Milner from Chelsea.

The Guardian also pick up on the story and say that Milner wants re-assurances from Villa as to the direction the club are going.

Interesting take on it by Neil Moxley in The Daily Mail

The Mirror today say that Manchester City are prepared to pay £20million and a player to grab James Milner.

The paper say MON would have the pick of either Micah Richards (who we were linked to last season), Shaun Wright Phillips (no good unless we are selling Ashley Young surely?), Nedum Onuoha or Stephen Ireland.

The report also says that no matter what is offered, MON would prefer to keep hold of James.

If not, £20m + Ireland (like Ireland, very good young player!) AND Richards maybe?! Personally I'd also try to get Craig Bellamy, we need a nasty, snarling sort of player. I seem to be in a minority on that though and he does seem to have knee problems a lot!

And in other news... yes, there are other players in the world!

Mirrorsport claim that Marlon Harewood could be USA bound! Apparently he has been offered a deal at D.C. United. Harewood is out of contract and so available on a free.

Turkish side Bursaspor, along with some Championship teams are also said to be interested.

How about clone cowans, mcgrath and Shaw? Then again that's wishful thinking, not uncommon around here.

ROFL... Thats a bit harsh :P I totally agree. Can't see bellamy and MON working too well together tbh. MON does not like strong personalities - looking at you NRC :P I would looooove bellamy though. The guy has been as good as tevez at Man City and probably more consistent...

Richards is a good player but a bad egg with a bad reputation MON wont have that, Nedum Onuoha and Ireland are a much better bet.

The one thing that scares me about Ireland is that he is a nut job - and clearly a bit unstable.
