James Milner Not Sure On Villa Future

James Milner Not Sure On Villa Future

Just mopping up the days news which basically all about James Milner.

I'd be shocked after listening to his press conference as broadcast on SSN if he didn't go this summer sadly.

Thing is, Villa have to get every penny they can for him, we've already showed we won't be bullied (over Gareth Barry ) but if someone is willing to pay 'silly money' then every player has a price.

£30m for him? + Sale of fringe players + some tv money and cup run money. Could be a big pot to re-build?

Gulp.

Milner said:

'Do I expect to be at Villa next season? I don't know. I've worked as hard as I can and concentrated on club football while the season has been on. Now it has finished, I'm focusing on England - and that's the only thing I am focusing on.'

Adding, 'The speculation about my own future is not distracting. There are always going to be rumours about every player in every club when the transfer window opens. To be linked with any clubs is flattering but I'm just concentrating on England at this time. The season finished at Villa a week and a bit ago and we all said we would discuss my future after the World Cup.'

Would have hoped for a 'I hope so' at the end of the 'do I expect to be at Villa next season?' rather than a 'I don't know'.

Seems he's off to me. I could be wrong!

Worst news - wanted to hear him say he was happy here and ready to sign! Ah well, onwards and upwards - push for £25m plus Ireland (if City) or Anderson (if United). Try and let him go to Man Utd with a replacement. Anderson not good enough maybe BUT would you trust O'Neill with that money to spend it on a few foreign flair players???

It's inevitable that he is gonna go, wait till after the world cup, as his value can only increase, if it's man city then a player cash deal would work for me, santa cruz, bellamy, ireland, richards, swp any of them would be good for us and improve us.

well Jp if thats his responce then there's not much we can do, if we don't get a cap on wages there's going to be no end on players chasing that pot of gold, and football will be worse for it, I can see no end to this madness unless we're all owned by some sheik, that way the wages will be the same at every club, and people will move on for all the right reasons instead of cash,if more players behaved like Matt Le Tissier football would be better for it, i know it wont happen, still we can dream, anyway if he whats out, get rid,

He is a good player and i would not like to see him go. If the price is right though and we can use the money to improve then let him go. I am not sure how much further he can improve. He may become the next Gerard/Lampard but then again he may become the next Carrick. He has not shown any ‘greatness’ which he may do in a better team, it is a gamble and I trust MON/ Lerner to improve the team whatever happens

Not Santa Cruz - useless - only scored more than five in one season twice! Much much worse return than even Heskey.

If he goes, he goes, we all know theres NO loyal AT ALL in football these days, kaka pretended he was at AC Milan, but that lasted 6 months, barry we all thought like milner now, would stay at villa rather than go man city...and it looks like he may go man city, fairplay if he goes United, or someone in the top 3, but anyone else and I'll be happy to boo him twice as bad as barry...Since we've made Milners career, with the loan period, and now putting him in the middle...
