Villa Transfer News Round Up And Angry Players?

Villa Transfer News Round Up And Angry Players?

Sky Sports are claiming that Manchester City have bid for James Milner. See: Manchester City Bid £20m For James Milner?

The People have claimed that Villa are after ... wait for it as the link returns... Tottenham winger David Bentley.

The 25-year-old was a target for Martin O`Neill before but the player chose to return to London instead. The paper claims that Everton are also after the player who seemed to spring back into form for Spurs in the second half of the season, whilst Lennon was out injured I'd assume? They claim the fee would be around £10m (Spurs paid £15m for him)

I'd not say no but where would he play? We can only have two wingers can't we, or can he also play centrally?

Another report, this time in the Daily Star claim 'fury' from some of our senior players at the reported sell to buy policy at Villa.

Do we have a sell to buy? I don't think so, I just think we are going to offload some fringe players in order to bring in fresh bodies, a sell to buy would be where MON is forced to sell our star players. Bit different that isn't it? All clubs will offload players that are no longer in their managers plans this summer.

A Villa 'insider' is quoted as saying: 'There are a few of the players who are not happy with the way things are going at the club right now. It`ll be interesting to see how things develop over the summer.'

I do have to hold my hands up that those comments match a couple of conversations I've had in the past month but again, do we really have a sell to buy or are we just clearing out players whose move to Villa haven't worked out for whatever reason?

There is still money at this club, we had good tv showings, cup runs etc and Randy hasn't said he isn't funding us anymore, just that he is trying to run the place like a business so £30million bids for strikers etc wouldn't be appropriate.

Cmon J P Fear, you lot started that Ivanovic to Villa rumour. ;) Bane (that's his nickname) has become a fan favourite at the beidge and is a top quality defender. Never in a million years will Chelsea sell him. Even if they did, it would cost in excess of 15 million because he's that good. Like most rumours, never going to happen.

Bentley has played quite successfully in the centre of the park before but other than exploiting his flexibility to make changes it really would not be utilizing him to his full potential. If he does come in could it be a signal that either Downing is no longer preferred or that Young might be allowed to leave?

Or it could mean that we've decided to add some depth to the squad rather than rely on Young and Downing without any back-up, but I very much doubt that.

I doubt spurs would sell him for 10 million. We would want to recoupe as much of his value as possible. He's performed much better this season, and would rotate well with lennon. Bentley does not want to leave now we have acheived CL footy. I doubt he'd go for less than 12 but Levy would probably aim for about 14-15
