Manchester City Bid £20m For James Milner?

Sky Sports are claiming that Manchester City have bid for James Milner.

Not sure if this is accurate or just them putting 2+2 together. Time will tell as they say that no response from Villa has been made to the bid as yet.

Sky reckon that Man City are willing to pay around £20million for the 24-year-old England midfielder.

Ah right, now I know the response from Villa.... Bugger off!

We quoted Randy Lerner on the Milner 'issue' last week but just to remind you...

'I'm not worried about losing James Milner. I think James will play for Aston Villa and should play for Aston Villa. I'm not dismissive of the realities that a player that has received the attention and acclaim of James is going to spark discussion and debate about a move and so on. The answer is 'No', I don't worry about him leaving because he is wanted at this club.'

The young pfa player of the year for £20m? That is a reduction of £4m on yesterday's press quoted price for a start! Has he really lost that much form over night!?

Our latest poll asks what you'd sell him for, bearing in mind every player has their price, just look at Manchester United and the Ronaldo transfer.

Man City suck my balls

20 mill is a ridiculous price, considering they spent 19 on Santa Cruz and 24 on Lescott. We should be saying no less than 35 compared with those 2 prices. No reason to worry, he has plenty of time left on his contract and look how stubborn we were over the Barry/Liverpool situation.
Francobaresi13
Ridiculous. Milners staying here, offers like that only make the decision easier.
Callum_ws
Commenting as a neutral in your situation. Id say he's probably worth about 15 mill, add 7-8 for his age and remaining contract. 25 mill would be a more than fair offer. But surely if O'Neil had to sell h'd wait till after the world cup, his value could increase based on performance.
Tsunami
25 may be a fair offer, but I would definatley refuse it, who could we get for 25million that's better than Milner? Nobody in my opinion. And we'd never buy a player for 25million anyway, we'd get a couple of average replacements at best.
Callum_ws
If the Citeh owners are that keen on our players, why didn't they buy Villa in the first place? Milner proved there was life after Barry and will prove it even more at the World Cup. The answer is f*** off, Citeh, because James Milner is the man to build our team around.

its strange to see the poll results so far (10.14 a.m) only 22% of us not willing to sell, while an incredible 78% of us quite happy to sell it seems for differing amounts, what do these 78% think we could do with the money! buy better, dont think so, if we sell milner thats a road that will lead all the way back to mid-table, because the message that will give to our other young gifted english players is u can leave has well if the price is right.
eltoro
thing is, does every player at every club in the world not have a price? I would be gutted to see him go but if £40m offer came in (unlikely) + we have to take into account what the player wants. If he wants to stay then shut up shop, no sale. There are a few others in the first team I would be tempted with or not overly upset, if Milner goes it would be a sad day indeed.
The Fear
I think Milner MUST stay...BUT if Citeh offered Richards, Ireland, Bellamy AND £10m would I change my mind?
krfeskivilla
Also... forgot to add the young and English factor which yanks up the price anyway!

Will have to wait and see, hopefully he commits his future after the World Cup by signing a contract extension, but if City bid over £30m id expect the offer to be accepted.......Milly went on record saying this is the first time in his career he's had a bit of stability so would be a bit silly wanting to go to City now who will probably be changing their manager every 18 months or so!
son_of_cher
For 30m they can have milner. And I'll toss in heskey for free. For 40m i'll drop heskey from the deal :P
Astriel
How so Moonbeam? You lot are new money so you should be able to remember what it was like to have your star players dribbled over by the rich folk? Tell us, how did you react? Did you not want him to leave? Did you want the best from any possible deal? Yeah, thought so.
JayVFC
After the wait and trouble we put up with waiting for the inevitable move that was Milner to Villa (The loan deal, Doug refusing to give DOL the extra Million to sign him, When he was going to sign and we agreed a deal and then Newcastle calling him back, ect..) It would be silly to just sell him now after only 2 seasons. NO TO CITY! I know no player is bigger than the club but teams like us and Everton need to stick together. Its the only way to stop the Rich Boys (and yes I know we have spent a fair bit since Doug went) pulling away and stoping teams like us ever having a chance to succeed. Even if teams were given a max budget to spend then it would be fair but now City can clame to be in for any player we or anyone else are in for and that will price them out of our range. BOYCOTT CITY AND ANY OTHER RICH TEAM!! Nothing against City fans but we need to stop this trend of buying titles and go back to teams using their youth squads and producing their own tallent. Its for the good of the sport.

Can't we just put/state a buy out clause on Milner like the Spanish clubs do rather than just announce that we will try and stop City and others from starting abidding war for him. Tell them £60 million or bugger off!!
bentonm
"We have received an offer from Manchester City for James Milner and this has been firmly rejected," said a Villa spokesman late on Wednesday. "We plan to sit down with James and his representative after the World Cup to agree a new long-term deal and this remains our position." From BBC Sport website
