Randy Lerner Speaks

Randy Lerner Speaks

There is a decent question and answers session with Randy Lerner at: www.expressandstar.com

One bit:

Q: Were you surprised by the press attention and negative aspect of it towards Martin?

A: There were times I was surprised. The blog incident caught me off guard. I was away with my daughter at the time. I was surprised at the quick, rapid viral effect it had.
Martin and myself were saying to each other 'what`s going on?` Neither of us knew. We quickly communicated, dealt with it and got things clear.

And the ONE site that got it right? Out of all the press, sky, talksport, other blogs, forums. One stood by the total opposite to what everyone was saying with people ignoring my protestations as to the fact the story wasn't true. Just shows this site never passes off anything as FACT unless it is known to be fact. Just saying ! ;o)

On the fans Randy says:

I also want to take a moment to extend my gratitude to supporters, people that have stood by our organisation, the club, the players, over the last couple of years. It has been amazing. The enthusiasm, the degree to which people are vocal in their support, certainly in times of doing well and winning games specifically.

we really are lucky to have a chairman like Randy Lerner. The more I hear about him the more I like him and the way he goes about things.

I like the comments about the fans being really vocal, especially when we are doing well. The obvious inference from this is that we do not provide this level of support when we are not doing well. It could be argued that he has just made the same point as O'Deary (that we are fickle), ony in a positive way. Good fans are more vocal and provide more encouragement when things are not going well. This is something that Villa fans do not do and an area where 'we', as supporters must improve. Randy in his own brilliant way is showing that he does have an iron fist in a velvet glove. We should not take this warning lightly.
