Friedel Pleased With Villa Progress

Brad Friedel has said he is more than happy with the progress Villa made last season, although he admits there was an obvious disappointment at missing out on a Top 4 place again.

Speaking on the Official Site Friedel insisted it had been a season of great progress and stated 'we're moving in the right direction'.

He goes onto mention our fantastic trips to Wembley and highlights the two victories over Blues as special moments during the season.

As for the elusive Top 4 position he admits it was disappointing to miss out again, but he's convinced the team and Monny won't give up until the dream is finally achieved.

'We were all disappointed that we didn't get fourth spot because that was what we were aiming for. But I'm sure the gaffer and chairman will figure out ways to push us to Champions League qualification next season.'

The summer is certainly going to be an interesting period now we know for sure Monny is staying. We all know there are bound to be exits but we are only really two players away from having a real shout of turning the majority of our draws into wins, if we get those two players and could change 5 of those draws into wins we'd have walked into the Top 4 the last few seasons.

That has to be aim.
