whats all the fuss about, all we have to do is buy 1 striker (keane likely tevez dream), get rid of reo cocker, luke young, steve sidwell. also curtis is a good player we should loan him out would be a total waste of money to sell now he could end up being anoother gary cahill for us. and lets all be happy we still have MON as alot of people think we are like real madrid. we have to accept with the current climate that 6th place is a great place for a team like villa, we will never be top 3 unless we get a russion tax evader or arab billionaire

Reading between the lines we are going to have a smaller squad next term. Why would lerner give MON more money to spend on players he will not play anyway. NRC is the most competitive midfielder on our books, Luke young is a far better RB. Davies has't done anything wrong. The young players don't get a chance. I would get rid of Sidwell, Heskey, Shorey for starters.

Here's the way I look at it...if we can strengthen up top and get some more goals in the team and more creativity in the midfield, then we don't need to worry about who or what tottenham and man city spend to get. The top 3 sides usually do the business against the lower clubs and often their league standing rests upon how they do against EACHOTHER. If we strenghten, and beat the teams we should beat, then we can still get 4th by beating the teams around us, which we have a decent record against.

Maybe he has had a harder time than we know of getting over his Brother's Death which is why he is not playing...it's been less then a year after all, those things can take a while. If that is the case then keep him, he may get more playing time next year)... In: Clyne, Defour, Bent, Benayoun

Arda Turan? Young Turkish attacking midfielder able to play anywhere across the middle. I believe Arsenal tracked him for a while but he's just the type of player we need and would cost in the region of £15m maybe.

I thought we were missing 2 players a goal poacher and playmaker, but The Fonz fills one of those roles quite nicely not just a player in the SAME MOLD NOTE NOT AS GOOD AS BUT IN THE SAME MOLD AS wesley sneijder. I AM REALISTIC AND KNOW WE WOULD NOT GET HIM OR BE IN FOR HIM, BUT SOMEONE IN THE SAME STYLE AS HIM SHOULD BE WHO WE ARE AFTER.

I wouldn't sell Milner for any price right now, definatley not 20million, not even 30million. Because I know we'd struggle to find a better or even equal replacement, even with that much money. We need our best players obviously, we need to become one of the clubs that players would like to come to, rather than leave. We were 1 place behind City, yet it seems like players believe theres more reason to go to City, it sickens me.

Players want to go to City because they are throwing ridiculous amounts of money around. I still think it will take them two years to get into the Champions League unless they sort their defence out. As for us, I would like to see us keep Luke Young (and play him), Curtis Davies and Nigel Reo-Coker. If we kept those players and sold Sidwell, Shorey, Heskey, Harewood and Beye. I still believe we need two first choice forwards as Gabby would be an ideal number 3 forward to bring on with 30 minutes left or as a backup. I would love Forlan but never going to happen, I think Robbie Keane will be a Villa player next season. Not sure who else will come but realistically think we may sign Kenwyne Jones and another midfielder.

I would like us to get Hart and maybe one of their better strikers if we ever did do a deal. Altho Freidel has done well for us can anyone see him being our number 1 for much longer given his age? I would love Tevez but would realistically take Santa Cruz and Hart for Milly. If he did go (i hope not!), any money from that sale would only be spent on mediocre lower division players and therefore not improve us.

Hammers just bid £5m for Yakubu. Would like to see him at Villa Park depsite his injury record as he can be class when fit and is stil only 27. Scharner from Wigan would also be a decent repalcement/backup for Petrov. Micah Richards to replace Luke Young.........No edge of seat stuff but they are typical MON signings and would be improvements on Heskey, Sidwell (and possibly Luke Young)......We still need the wow factor striker and midfielder (if Milner leaves). Ireland ticks the midfield boxes, god knows how we could get up front? Edin Dzeko for me but I seriously doubt it would ever happen, more than likely it will be Kenwyn Jones

Be just typical of Plattini and Blatter to issue rules that suit so called big clubs by overlooking the huge debts that they carry. Just smacks to me of stopping anyone else joining the party. I understand the need to invest in recent years but Randy is a business man and the business model can't sustain losses of 44M every year, so I still wonder how big the transfer kitty will actually be this year.

Fear, I hate this transfer window.....we never do anything early....I'm only asking for a Beattie or a Beckford (free!!!!) to start us off....then perhaps a few opening bids (official ones) for players, ala Parker, Ireland, M Richards, Bent, Boussaffa(???)....But in the end you know that MoN will either keep us waiting and buy them late without a decent preseason so that they can't be assessed within our system or he'll buy late and it'll be some doushe like Tuncay who won't get a placce....seem a bit pessimistic dont I; considering up until Chelsea caned us we had one of the BEST PL defence stats with playersin the wrong positions! Unfortunately that defence was not aligned with a all-firing strike force....we need a natural RB to go forward, someone like Young (!!), we need a creative MF to compliment our young and sometimes lethargic wingers, we need a striker with something a little different - like a decent goal scoring record.....I still think either Kenwyne Jones or Bent would be a way forward - and I know I'm the only person in the world who rates Jones but I stand by my belief...p.s. Cole won't come and we won't go for him.

Agree, don't think we'd go for Joe Cole, for one thing his wages are probably high + his injury record is poor, shame as he is a great player but..... Agreed with GT saying we could do with a wow player or two at this stage but also agree when GT said it probably wasn't MON's way. Would think Boyd on a free might make sense? Agreed, we need a WOW player for mf creativity and I include Ireland in that creativity role. It would be great if we could buy him and keep Milner as I believe the two of them would free up Ash to play as a floater and leave Downing and Milner and Ash to interchange going forward...Cole just won't leave London. If we can just pinch a half-decent striker, not a holder of the ball but an out and out selfish git who wants to score...i.e Bent. Man City would sit on Ireland rather than sell to Chelsea as money no object. Better for him to come here. I fear thou that WC going to inflate prices and we may HAVE to sell Milner to increase spending opportunity. Either that or sell, the guys who just don't play and there's quite a few of them draining the budget. use them as makeweights as I reckon Wham would love Sidwell and Beye....

Koolbill, to be honest after his speech when in the semi's against portsmouth .. I would get rid of yesterday. he is a versitile player but I think he will find it hard being down the pecking order at Spurs, would be good for your team mind ... Villa are a good club obviously I want you to lose to us like wise for you guys ... but with a bigger squad I cannont see why you cannot finish in top 4 with us. I think MON needs to up his game great manager but needs to make sure Villa do not lose the form and tire in last 3rd of season that is what cost you for last couple of seasons.

Agreed there, E17YID. How many seasons will it take before this sinks in or is it because the purse strings are tighter than we think? Either way MoN has had a big enough squad for last two seasons to rotate but he just doesn't do it.....it very nearly pays off but then falters...I hope he does learn from this as the deadline for the UEFA cup registrations is this friday!

Stig I think he maybe waiting to see IF he has any money to spend that has been generated by sales. A great deal depends on what happens with Milner as to what if any targets are approached. Just my view of course I , like all of us actually have no idea, what has been planned or is being planned

I would take ireland matty. Younger, faster, and had a great season the year before last. I think he could reclaim that form under MON. Although we could get both (dnt think we will) coz i see parker as a like for like to petrov (who should be rotated, as should all the players) during the season.

Ireland + Onuoha as part of the Milner deal. Huntelaar + Boussoufa with the money. It's pretty much a repeat of what I said on this thread a while back, but I still stick by it, they'd all be great signings. Huntelaar + Boussoufa are the type of players we NEVER sign, that's why it'd be sweet if it happened. For some reason I have more hope than in previous windows that we will sign some players that have proven themselves abroad. I mean, IMO Boussoufa would be worthwhile risk, if you can consider it a risk, I mean player of the season 2 years running and 16 goals 20 assists last season. Those stats are better than any of our players last season, he scored mroe goals than our strikers and he's a midfielder! Just buy him!

not a nice read in the daily star on sunday, basically saying we're SKINT and no one will be arriving, fantastic, I can see some truth in this, if milner stays, there will be no money available, another dreadfull transfer window coming up guys

Milner isnt going anywhere. They will have sat down today, Milner would have said "If the money is not right, i will be happy to stay" MoN will have said "ok Good , well come with us to Portugal lets move forward under the premise ur staying with us, if the right money (30m) comes in from City then we will have another conversation" Over to you money bags.....

I wish MON was a bit more open with us about what he wants to get done at the club and the kind of players he feels we need to bring in to improve. Just so we know he's atleast looking at players.

Please keep James Milner - a good player but not worth anywhere near £30million - probably £20 million at a stretch - better for all parties if he stays - we will have him for free in two years time.

willy, you miss the point. Its because citeh have zillions that millys price is 30mil and that's how important he is to villa. anyone else its probably a little lower and thats the price citeh will pay for having all their zillions for every player. same as ba$ry, if he wants to go then go as we only want players who want to stay and fight for their place in the team.

When i see youre in for the likes of Mcgeady its just crazy. Apart from being short a top striker (abit like us) what you really need is creativity. You havent had a "flair" player since Ginola? Angel maybe. Your hard working, solid team is crying out for a Van Der Vaart, Pienaar or even a Kranjcar (although he's not for sale). But will your manager ever realise or will he instead try sign James Beattie

McGeady 10 mil? nah not for me when we have Albrighton, Ash and Downing even if Milly does go. Would like to see some of last seasons bench warmers moved on tho to get funds in (Heskey, Beye, Sidwell, Shorey, Harewood, Salifou). I do like Reo still but will he be given the chance? Is he good enough?? Will MON ever change tactics???

1969: I really think Sidders is the better mf compared to Reo whom cannot pass at all. All the rest can move on though. I read that Curtis Davies has been transfer listed since June - IS THIS CORRECT?????? Madness if it is - 8m down the pan.

koolbill, Reo isn't for everyone but he gives it his heart and that isn't seen in every display. I agree he isn't the best passer of the ball that we have tho. Excited for Albrighton and hopefully this will get Downing into gear as he really has been a waste up until now and needs to start firing on all cylinders! If that is trus about Davies then I will really be annoyed as yet again we waste money. Ok, if he's injuries are worst than thought and he isn't the same player then fair enough, if not keep hold of him please.

Winston Reid signs for wetspam, watch out for this speedy fullback from NZ as he is highly rated over here and has come back from SA on a high with the national team. If we are in the hunt for Huntelaar (sorry couldn't reist) then getting him on board would be a coup but then I doubt it. When you look at the clubs he has played for then surely he is a Klass act :)))
