Majority Would Keep Carew + Martin O'Neill Poll

Vital Villa asked in a snap poll yesterday:

What do you do with John Carew?

Surprisingly 72% said Villa should extend his contract, bit surprised at his age, with his injury record etc that people would want it extended but hey, the masses have spoken! :o)

24% said sell and just 4% wanted him to be allowed to run down his contract and leave on a free next season. Must admit, unless a high offer comes in, the latter would be what I'd do if I was a decision maker... depending on what his wages are obviously.

Our latest poll, suggested by several, asks what you think about the news that Martin O'Neill is staying. From my point of view, I'm just delighted they resolved the situation quickly!

Gabby is our best scorer this season in the PL with 13 goals, albeit he played more games but then, fitness is an important consideration

At the end of the day, which premiership team can afford to sell their top scorer? (particularly when the other options include Heskey!!!)

Gabby has 16 from 45 (1 as sub) games across all competitions and Carew has 16 from 41 (15 as sub), so there is not much in it except Gabby spend far more time on the field. Yeah he got 3 more in the league but you have to look at the whole picture especially with our runs in the cups being a major part of this season's 'success'.

whats all the fuss about, all we have to do is buy 1 striker (keane likely tevez dream), get rid of reo cocker, luke young, steve sidwell, heskey. also curtis is a good player we should loan him out would be a total waste of money to sell now he could end up being anoother gary cahill for us. and lets all be happy we still have MON as alot of people think we are like real madrid. we have to accept with the current climate that 6th place is a great place for a team like villa, we will never be top 3 unless we get a russion tax evader or arab billionaire

Do feel I need to remind everyone that being top scorer at Villa is not that difficult

Gabby's work rate and effort puts carew to shame who appears to think because he's built like a tank he doesn't have to move. If he could be arsed he might even score a few more but i'm afraid that ain't going to happen. We are too predictable up front and we need to change. I'm amazed by this poll.
