So What Would You Do With John Carew?

So What Would You Do With John Carew?

Ok, so a quick poll before we move to a few end of season award polls.

This is a question I had on my white board ready to ask and then astvil123 sent it in also as a poll suggestion.

So what do you do with John Carew?

There are three options, we sell him this summer and make some money out of him whilst he can still command a fee, we let him run down his contract so he can leave on a free next summer or we extend his contract.

At his age and with his injury record, is renewing his contract really the way to go? I wouldn't think his wages would come cheap, he blows hot and cold - when hot very hot I'll admit but also you have to balance that out with the fact the hot days are rarely against the top teams and when he goes cold, he may as well not be on the pitch.

Some love him, some are indifferent and then there is the set who are frustrated to high heaven at a player who should terrorise the defenders he faces and be talked about in the same breath of the Didier Drogba's of this world.

So, with it being obvious we also need some new strikers in, what do you do? Keep, sell or extend?

His Villa career:

Record for 2009/2010 season:

League 22 appearances, 11 as sub. 10 goals
FA Cup 6 goals
Euro Cups 1 goal

Record for 2008 - 09

League 18 appearances, 9 as sub, 11 goals
FA Cup 1 goal
Euro Cups 3 goals

Record for 2007 - 08

League 32 appearances, 13 goals

Record for 2006 - 07

League 11 appearances, 3 goals.

Mr Average. Great on his day against the Reading's of the world but half the time he strolls around without a care in the world, eg last weekend. Drives me mad as he could be so good but he blows way too hot and cold for me.

21 goals in 20 starts and a few sub appearances!!!! MON MUST take some of the blame for not getting the best out of him (which is all that MON is reknowned for mostly anyway.) Service to him was lame and he spent half his time defending....

he's not on MONs unwanted list that the guardian has just published...

Keep him. We need to bring MORE players not let them go. Yea, there is some deadwood we need to get rid of, but Carew ain't deadwood, he was our topscorer! We need to bring in a top striker, but we need to keep Carew at the same time, bring him off the bench if needs be.

I think he is off (Fulham maybe)I have heard a story from 2 seperate sources that he has sold his house and bought one in London and I have no reason to disbelieve it.

What we do with him depends on who we bring in! Not surprised by players being put up for sale, but disappointed that Young (L) and Reo-Coker are included. We must hold out for decent money though, because no point in letting them go unless BETTER comes in

id keep him on the bench, start fonzo with gabby. or a new striker with gabby. we need him. i think he is one of those players who keep the atmosphere in the lockeroom up. funny thing, gabby scores more with his head compared to carew...
