Lowry Gets Deal Extension

Shane Lowry celebrates a callup to the provisional Australia World cup squad by today signing a new two year deal with the Villa.

Lowry has been on fine form this season, figuring in our Peace Cup success and having successful loan spells with Plymouth and Leeds this season, helping Leeds to promotion.

The new contract ties him to the club until June 2012 and he no doubt already has his eyes on stamping his authority on the Australian squad.

The Aussie's face New Zealand, Denmark and the United States in pre World Cup friendlies, and he'll be determined to get himself in the full squad for their WC opener against Germany.

Speaking on the Official Site Lowry said:

'I am absolutely delighted. It's been a decent season for me.'

He continues to talk about his first team debut against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League, plus the experience gained whilst out on loan.

'It's been a hectic couple of days - getting the call up, winning promotion with Leeds and now signing my new contract.'

A hectic couple of days he'll no doubt wish to experience every season.

Congratulation Shane, and good luck!

i think he is only 20 years old, so a nice nod from villa and some experience with the socceroos.... and yeah the aussies lack a bit of quality, but they did alright last time. Tim Cahill is a class act....
