THE NEED TO FORM A 'REGISTERED CHARITY`

To meet the growing demand for funds with which to fully deliver our extensive Health & Welfare support programme in particular, we are in the process of forming a 'registered charity`. We are delighted to be working with a 'top-quality` team that comprises John Donnelly, Neil Rioch, Karl Court, Lucy Davies, Bryan Sheppard (CEO) and Michael Price (director) of the Birmingham based BID Services charity, and Adrian Cutler, Partner at Cobbetts LLP. We are indebted to their 'voluntary` time, expertise and support. We are now finalising all the necessary work before submitting our application to the charities commission, and we hope to have Trustees appointed and achieve registered charity status by this summer.

ASTON VILLA RADIO 'SUMMARISERS`

Brendan Ormsby became the latest former player to give his expert opinion on Aston Villa radio commentaries when he joined resident match commentator Jack Woodward for the recent game away to Hull City. He joins Andy Blair, Chico Hamilton, Paul Kerr, Ken McNaught, Peter McParland, and Tony Morley who have all shared the microphone this season.

BRIAN GODFREY MEMORIAL GOLF DAY

Former players will be turning out at the Hilton Puckrup Hall hotel and golf club near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire on Thursday 3rd June in support of Brian Godfrey, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Brian was a staunch supporter of the Aston Villa FPA, and was also captain of Aston Villa`s 1971 League Cup final team and a Wales international. If you want to participate or contribute, please get in touch - 0121 608 0088.

'DERBY DAY` DELIGHT!

Former players were present to see the recent 'high noon` victory against Birmingham City. On official 'hospitality duty` were Charlie Aitken, Gordon Cowans, John Deehan, Tony Morley, Jimmy Rimmer, Bruce Rioch, Neil Rioch, and Bobby Thomson. Also seen there were Colin Gibson, Pat Heard, Gary Shaw, Shaun Teale, Garry Thompson, and Ron Wylie.

If anyone is in two minds about attending these games, don't be, a really good time is had by all, and the players are very approachable.
