Villa's Battle For 4th - Update 9

Previous update: Villa's Battle For 4th - Update 8

Thought I'd update our progress chart and predicted finish. We took maximum spoils from our home derby against the scum from the slum, courtesy of a perfectly good penalty decision.

So, as Man City took a point from Arsenal, and spurs mercifully lost to united, here's what we're looking like now. This will be my last update… think we can all work out what's needed from our last 2 games!

4th - Spurs 69
5th - Man City 68
6th - Villa 68
7th - Liverpool 66
8th - Everton - 61

Should we beat City however, and spurs fail to take 6 points from both Bolton and Burnley (now sadly relegated), you can all do the math!

I think now having beaten Birmingham, and finished on more points than last year already, we can say with conviction it's been a good season.

Spurs play Bolton (h) Man City (a) and Burnley (a)
City play us (h) Spurs (h) and West Ham (a)

I would like to be confident of getting 6/7 points but I feel there is still more twists to the story but as you have said this season has already been our best, so atleast we are showing progress and the top four resolve is cracking! Its going to the wire but im worried about Burnley who are now all in the shop window, trying to attract new clubs!! COYs please dont ef it up!! Good luck to you all tho it should be a good couple of weeks!!!

I guess the pressure is on Spurs (as they are in pole position now) and City (they're the big spenders).... Hopefully we can get to 70 points and see of any of that pressure tells. UTV!!!

Hi Guys, I wonder what you feel about this topic on the Spurs site. "City could be caught short - Manchester City are to ask the Premier league for a special dispensation to bring in another goalkeeper for the final three games of the season following Shay Given`s injury at the weekend." It looks like they are going to be allowed to do this if you read the BBC Sport Website.

ThorpyUK, outside NOW!!!! You bleedin' wuss. We WILL beat Citeh and get to 70 points! Where's your spine boyo???!!! We'll beat Citeh then Blackburn. Citeh will in turn beat Spuds! And then they'll only get one more point from Bolt-On and 3 fron Burnley! Come on THE VILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't forget Citeh's talismanic goalie is out for the last few games!!!!!

It's all down to the fans now. Get your lucky underpants on, choose your shirt on matchdays with care and don't pick your nose. That should see us through in 4th place. The gods of football are very particular.

honestly happy with the season although I dont think we can compete in the CL. Love MON but he would not know what to do with extra money on players for CL. Just to stick it to Barry would love to finish 5th and think it would be a great season over all. But I will take 4th if no one else wnats to take

My consolation is Liverpool not playing any football in Europe next season if Portsmouth wins its appeal! Take that you Spanish prats!

If we dont make it then I hope its Villa, as they have good young english talent and have built a team not bought it, so please, please beat Citeh this weekend!! COYS!!

With the Given out of action(Quality keeper btw) that screams for us to grab the bull by the horns and shoot on site against cit£h. Its about time we start to capitalize on the weaknesses of other teams in the same way that other teams capitalize on our ability to only play a 4-4-2 style of football.
