'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Friday's Aston Villa Press Transfer Talk

Just a few snippets of transfer gossip.

John Carew has again talked - or The Sun have used old quotes - about the links out of Villa Park. He says he is happy at Villa and also that he doesn't want to talk about contracts or rumours and just wants to concentrate on ending the season on a high.

Meanwhile Martin O'Neill says that the profile of Villa has raised enough to attract good quality players now.

'I think that we are a much more attractive proposition to top quality players than we would have been a couple of seasons ago. There is no question that would be the case. But like everything else it is acquiring those players. It is a difficult one to add real quality players because they cost an awful lot of money.'

The only link I can find is inwards... steady on! Vital Sheff Wed say that both Villa and West Bromwich Albion are after Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant in the summer. The former England U21 has been one of just a few players to come away from the Owls' disastrous Championship campaign with any credit thanks to his top-drawer performances between the sticks.
