Martin O'Neill's Post Hull Victory Reaction

Martin O'Neill's Post Hull Victory Reaction

Martin O'Neill told www.avfc.co.uk that he was delighted with the professional way that Villa earnt their win over Hull City last night.

He said after the 2-0 victory, 'This was an important win for us. Even though it was very professional and I thought we played very well and it was pretty controlled stuff, at 1-0 the game is still in the balance. It was good to get the second goal - James Milner sticking it in from the penalty - and we saw it through reasonably comfortably. I say that now, I'm not saying that is what I thought in the last 10 or 15 minutes of the game.'

He also says the team have shown great 'character' all season. Must admit I said in the match thread last night that we might not be the prettiest at times but we sure are gritty these days!

And on our chances to end the season with a high finish: 'We are in the mix.' Adding, 'We are not even guaranteed to finish eighth in the league at this minute.'

And of course.... 'It would be great if we could get victory against Birmingham, for every reason under the sun obviously.'
