Press Seem Determined A Villa Star Leaves!

The Daily Mirror seem determined that one of our stars at the very least leaves Villa Park this summer!

The last link was James Milner to Manchester City or Manchester United. Now they say that Manchester City will be targeting winger Ashley Young this summer.

I guess this is a compliment to the club and to Martin O'Neill's purchases that the young stars are being linked with other clubs.

More interesting are MON's comments, on the James Milner rumours, reported in several papers where the Villa boss says:

'It is irksome at this stage of the season. It doesn`t do anyone any favours particularly because the player has had a fantastic time and is enjoying his football immensely here. He has had a really brilliant time, particularly since moving into the middle of midfield and I am delighted for him.' Adding 'James is still under contract with us and it`s a case of dampening fires that weren`t there in the first place. We want the best players to stay here at Aston Villa so we can keep the momentum going.'

So reading between the lines.... no, only joking!

lol, will have to get my thinking cap on for made up rumours steff, not sure I can carry on though, sort of ran out of ideas for the stupid ones!!!

Not a bad deal I guess Juddy, if they throw in Ireland as well (the player not the country) then maybe we have a deal brewing?!?!

Juddy, SWP a great player ? not sure about that .No way is he better than Young.The BBC report is an exact copy of whats in the Mirror so some lazy journalism there then.

I think some Villa fans are very nostalgic about Ashley Young, yes he used to specialise in putting pin point crosses into the box for the likes of Big John to finish......but we haven't seen much of that for a very long time now, just Ash sat on his teacake with his arms in the air. I would take SWP over Ash any day of the week.

Its getting old now, these reports about this player or that player on this club or that club's radar. Hopefully both Milly and Ash will be with us as we kick off the 2010-11 campaign, but if not, new faces will presumably have come in as replacements, and this great club of ours will still be very much alive and kicking.

Juddy used to specialise ? It was a beautiful undefendable cross that Gabby should have scored from on Sunday, then the ones we scored from against Man U, Stoke, Everton ,Sunderland ,Wolves (and those are without thinking about it) plus the goals and the work rate and that far outstrips SWP in my view.

I have lost count the amount of times that he could have crossed, checked back, checked back again....lost possesion, fell on his arse and waved his arms in the air this season! If somebody comes in with a big money offer, cash in...he can be replaced.

Ash can be replaced but we don't want to be seen as a selling club. I think all this is journos making mischief trying to upset the team. Remember The Fat Spanish Waiter and GB?

Sir Dennis makes a great point. Well actually more than one. Young's workrate is exceptional, defending from the front is essential in the PL, Young never shirks. 11 assists this season, not too shoddy. The shear number of crosses that are top quality is staggering, the fact that our midfield doesn't always bomb on isn't the fault of the cross. When Gabby was played on the outside of the 4-5-1 he used to bomb into the area a lot, but now tends to be standing around in the box more. Young is fantastc and better than SWP, but the four player swap or three of 'em plus £10m (lol, it is Man City after all) and I'd be pretty happy. Plenty more strength in depth from that deal. It's no fluke that we get own goals in our favour or that he gets mi***** crosses float into the net. His crosses cause mayhem in the box. Also he's so quick.
