ThorpyUk: The battle for fourth update... The verdict: A win, but it's not enough! Good victory away at Pompey yesterday, and quite an entertaining game to watch too I thought… Carew scored a well taken goal but then missed a penalty, and Delfouneso opened his premier league account. Some were asking yesterday why Fabian Delph hadn't even made the bench in the win over Portsmouth. The club have announced the 20-year-old summer arrival from Leeds has picked up what they have called a 'serious knee injury' during training. Fonzy on his first PL goal, Delfouneso said: 'It was a great feeling. You could see the delight on my face when I scored it. I've been waiting for that for a very long time. I've scored goals in other competitions but it means such a lot to score in the Premier League.' Full article: Click Here
astvil123: Stephen Ireland, one of the best attacking midfielders currently in the Premier League is no doubt adored by the Manchester City faithful, but it seems as though Mancini is not as impressed. Ireland is constantly featured on the Man City bench and with the money driven club likely to bring in new star players this summer, you just wonder ... could he be made available? Full article: Could Villa Sign Stephen Ireland?
Press talk from Sunday. MON and JC out apparently! No one in then? Nah! Full 'article': Villa Sunday Press Talk: MON Out - Carew Out!
Jonah: Summer's (almost) here and the time is right........but for what? I think we just could be on the verge of a defining summer for Martin O'Neill and Villa. We have all seen the recent conjecture surrounding MON's future. Will it prove to be just that or will we find ourselves with a new man in charge at Villa Park next season? Don't look at me, I don't have the answer but I do think we are in for a very interesting summer. Time Is Right At Villa.... But For What?!
Martin O'Neill has said that both James Milner and Ashley Young could fit into the very best teams around the world but he hopes that Villa will be able to hold on to them for another crack at the top four next season. Full article and paper links: Ashley Young & James Milner Could Grace Any Team
Just a very brief quote for those that seem to want to moan about and slate fellow Villa fans. This from Martin O'Neill who reading between the lines is at least showing the majority of fans - putting aside the few boo boys - have been vocal all season in support of the team. 'I have been delighted with the team and the support here has actually been enormous. I sometimes think that has been missed along the way. But overall, I think our support has been fantastic. The two trips to Wembley have been eye-openers.' Full article: Martin O'Neill - Villa Fans Support 'Enormous'
