'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thanks Go To Exceptional Talent - The Verdict

Martin O'Neill has lauded Nathan Delfouneso as an 'exceptional talent' following his winning goal in todays match against Pompey.

Speaking on the Official Site following the 2-1 victory O'Neill admitted that he didn't think it was going to be our day until Delboy came on and changed the game in our favour.

'I think in the not too distant future he will be a real player for us.'

It was a strange and frustrating day. We all have our own opinions on the performance but it's no exaggeration to say on another day we could've easily put 5 away. There could've been 3 penalties - although personally I'd have called that very harsh - but even excluding those given Carew missed the one we did get, we could've still reached that scoreline with just a bit more luck infront of goal. A foot further wide of James was all that was needed at points - Gabby's 6yd box header for a start.

Just a very weird match.

If only we had had this exceptional talent available all season

Actions speak louder than words. Or maybe O'Neill considers Heskey to be an even more exceptional talent than Delfouneso, thus explaining why the merely exceptional has seen so little action as compared to the super-exceptional.

Looks like Delph could of done his knee in training on the wwekend, hopefully not!!

Could Delfouneso be the next top striker to benefit from Emile Heskey? Nice assist today from the big man. Great instinctive finish from Nathan. I thought it was going to end a draw or worse still Pompey would snatch a late winner when we kept missing chances. Carew's goal was a cracker but he should have scored the one earlier. The commentator on the stream I watched said "Carew has 100% success rate from the penalty spot" just before he took it. Cheers mate. Commentators curse strikes again. I can see Spurs taking 3rd at the moment with Le Arse in 4th. Who knows? With Man City's next three games being Arsenal, Villa and then Spurs anything can happen. Great end to a great season I reckon.

i am glad we won this, thanks to the exceptional talent of La Fonz.

as long as its not 'Fonzie'.....

'Fonzie' - the "real proper player"..... but seriously folks Fonz reminds me of Drogba a bit....

highly rated this lad, like the fact he isn't being rushed as well as people forget very quickly that young players have a lot to learn. I love his positional sense though, looks a natural striker to me.
