Villa Sunday Press Talk: MON Out - Carew Out!

A report this morning in the News of the World suggests that John Carew could be on his way to Fulham in the summer. The report says he'd fetch around £3.5million. Wouldn't be shocked to see him go, I must admit, but surely only if we are sure of a quality replacement or two? Wonder if they would do a buy one and get one free so that Emile Heskey goes with him!? Sorry!!!!

Also by Aidan Magee at the News Of The World there is an 'exclusive' that SO isn't an exclusive, it is old news and as far as I can see from what he says in his report, total conjecture. He says that Martin O'Neill will be leaving Villa in the summer. Ok, he might do, but as said, this isn't backed up with any quotes, sources or a particularly reasoned argument. Report:
You would also have to question where MON would walk out to? Celtic is one option, he was loved there and he said if not for his wife's battle with cancer, he'd never have left. He has already ruled out Manchester United and at his age (58) I would imagine the Old Trafford outfit would have ruled him out as well? Liverpool? Maybe, then again, they are in financial turmoil, how does he gain going there? Anyway, it is obviously a slow news day and they needed to fill a gap in the paper.

In the report, he also says that there are a couple of players, Ashley Young and James Milner both being linked with big price exits, who could raise top money, he also says of James Milner: 'From Manchester United, along comes Roy Keane and you think 'who was better - Roy Keane or Bryan Robson?' You wouldn't mind losing the toss. I'm not saying James Milner has reached that yet but he has the potential to be really brilliant.' Which is exactly why Villa HAVE to keep Milner!

That seems to be about it for press talk today.

Carew isn't going...classic case of putting 2 and 2 together and making 5. So he's bought a flat near Craven Cottage. The bloke's a party monster and is always out in London. Simple as that.

Let's look on the bright side. If MoN did go, it would make some on here very happy, and the rest of us would get a rest from the negativity. We would also see how their longed-for replacement compares ...

I don't think Carew will go, him buying a place near there is not enough evidence to suggest it at all and I don't see why we'd want to get rid of him? He's not that bad, compared to the likes of Heskey...if we brought in a quality striker, having the likes of Carew and Delfons on the bench wouldn't be bad. Heskey can go, obviously. As suggested, Stephen Ireland would be a nice signing. Also one that isn't really suggested, Micah Richards? He's rarely playing for City now and in my opinion is a solid English Right-back. It'd sort out the fact we're playing a centre-back there at the moment, who at the best of times is a little shakey.

Sell our best goalscorer? What's he had - like 9 goals in 12 games? When he starts he score.... usually! :> Great well taken goal though, shame about the penalty

Before Carew joined Villa he did have the opportunity to join Fulham in 2002 but failed the medical and returned back to his then club....I really hope he joins, will be perfect in (Sir) Roy's set up!
