Martin O'Neill - Villa Fans Support 'Enormous'

Just a very brief quote for those that seem to want to moan about and slate fellow Villa fans.

This from Martin O'Neill who reading between the lines is at least showing the majority of fans - putting aside the few boo boys - have been vocal all season in support of the team.

'I have been delighted with the team and the support here has actually been enormous. I sometimes think that has been missed along the way. But overall, I think our support has been fantastic. The two trips to Wembley have been eye-openers.'

Adding, 'I think that shows where the club can go. It's not just that but the vocal support we've received in the Carling Cup final and the FA Cup semi-final - where they outshone and out-voiced Chelsea in every single aspect - was really fantastic.'

'For them to then come and support the team against Everton was really great. I think all of those things get missed along the way.'

So there yougo. Comments on this site and other sites have had all sorts of things said this season about us being the only fickle fans etc, which is just nonsense. People might have opinions on the manager, the owners, the players, the state of the pies and all the other things surrounding our club BUT fans are there in great numbers, in fine voice and are supporting the team. You can't look at the minority, you have to focus on the mighty claret and blue army. We've not always had that much to sing about, but we still sing loud and proud.

End of sermon... do I hear an amen?! (Or a sod off?!)

When I reflect on the wembley trips the abiding memory for me was the support. A couple of times I stopped singing myself just so i could listen to the singing.Truly spine tingling.
