Press Talk - James Milner To Manchester United?

Not a great deal going on press talk wise at the moment, only link I've seen in the last few days has been what I think will be a re-occurring theme up to and through the summer.

James Milner to Manchester United.

A report in The Telegraph today claims that Sir Alex Chewalot will monitor our England midfielders contract talks at Villa as he has around £80million at his disposal for transfers in the summer.

Well, this is one he can't have! Would be gutted to see Milner go, trouble is every player has his price and once Man Utd start sniffing around, it can unsettle a player.

24-year-old Milner, who has just been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, has two years left on his current deal and Villa want to extend that.

Could be a very interesting summer, we are obviously at a crossroads and there are a good few players at Villa who will be looking to move as their chances have been so limited since being bought, the main job is convincing the few star players that the ambition is still high and that Villa is the place to be.

So far links wise we've had:

Could be a direct contest between Spurs and United here. Villa should do the honourable thing and get the negotiations started, if they haven't already. Having said that, a deal has probably already been agreed in principle with the both clubs.

simply 'both', rather than the both

Yup, Milner will be off to Man Utd for sure. You just would wouldn't you...sadly. The new Paul Scholes, simple as that.

Shame if Milner goes, wouldnt blame him as the oppurtunity doesnt come around much and least he will be going for ambition unlike barry who went for money. I would like to see someone like sessegnon or hleb come in to villa a foreign player who is gonna give us flair and exitement and open up defences. We obviously need a top quality striker in the summer and i dont think keane is the right choice, again a foreign talent could be needed like cardoza, huntelaar, guiza but again oneil likes players he knows can do a job and doesnt want to break the bank so keane or doyle may be the strikers coming in, rather doyle than keane i think keane is passed his best now. Matthews will be a good signing as he is a good prospect and always good to have young talent like delfouneso and delph.

Tony rocky horror there is no link at all that milner will go to spurs, for 1 you cant afford him and 2 he would go to a team what would be a step up in his career and thats not spurs for a fact!

If united come in, just get the best price possible, cant stand in a players way if a top 3 club come in.

26 million was one figure floating around...but i think he will stay... thats good money though - guiza, sessegnon and about 6 mil change.. otherwise what deano says - but not so sure about carrick or anderson...

Our current crown jewels is Milly! Got to keep or to get top dollar, simple.
