'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Laursen Believes Chelsea Thumping Will Spur Us On

Martin Laursen - twice in one day, we must be lucky - has said the defeat to Chelsea a few short weeks ago will ensure we are on top of our game this weekend.

Speaking on the Official Site for the second time today, our former Captain stated that the players will use the shock defeat as the perfect motivation as we head into the weekend, and they will most certainly be out for revenge and the perfect way of doing that will be to book ourselves convincingly into the Final.

'The way to look at this one now is it's a cup game and the previous defeat counts for nothing. If the players really want to win this one, they just have to think about that game again.'

Laursen continues to describe the revenge element as a 'massive incentive' for us to up our game and play as well as we all know we are capable of doing, and if we do that it's not us that should be fearing Chelsea, it's Chelsea that should be fearing us.

On our wider season, and the fact this will be our second trip to Wembley this year he says there is no doubt that 'it's been a very good season' and he adds that fighting on three fronts this season has been 'very impressive indeed'.

Just a shame he can't be there to lead us out and never had the chance to taste that kind of experience with us.

Here's hoping that Martin is reading the situation correctly, and that come Saturday evening we are celebrating in true claret and blue style. Pity he's not playing though. Can you imagine him alongside Richard Dunne in the very heart of that defence of ours? Formidable wouldn't begin to describe it.
