'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Ash Says MON 'Brilliant' + MON Overwhelmed

Ha, some positive words, nice!

Ashley Young told the press that Martin O'Neill is 'integral' in taking Villa to the next level.

The winger - who scored a belter v Bolton on Saturday, added:

'Since he has come in, if you look where the club has come from, it has gone up step by step and it is progressing in the right direction. You can`t ask for any more than that.'

He also says that Villa now have the fighting spirit in the team and that 'If you had said to us at the start of the season that we would get to the Carling Cup final, the FA cup semi-finals and would go into April still with a chance of finishing fourth, we would have taken that.'

He also says that the team just want to concentrate on 'the job in hand' and not worry about the speculation.

'He is a great man. He has been brilliant for us.'

Meanwhile MON has told the press, these quotes from the Sunday Mercury but also elsewhere, that the reception he got from the away fans at the weekend was 'overwhelming.'

The Villa boss said: 'I must admit, I don`t want to sound melodramatic about it, but I was kind of overwhelmed by the reaction. It was very nice and I appreciated it greatly.'
