Bolton - A MUST Win To Keep 4th Alive

Bolton - A MUST Win To Keep 4th Alive

Time to put your money where your mouth is!

To say that the last 3 games haven't gone well for us is a slight understatement.

Ssome fans are slating Martin O'Neill, some are slating the team, and some are saying our challenge for 4th is over.

This brings me to our next game - away at Bolton.

In the last 2 seasons, this fixture has ended up as a stalemate, 1-1. However, if we are to have any small chance of finishing 4th, this IS a MUST win game. No if's, no but's!

Fail to take anything but all 3 points away from the Reebok Arena and we're fighting for 5th/6th/7th.

We're largely dependant on other teams slipping up too. I have Tottenham to only take 1 point from Arsenal, Chelsea & Man United - should they win only 1 of those 3 games, I think 4th is as good as theirs.

All said however, we certainly do have a nice run-in, and hopefully, a win against Bolton will set us up nicely for our home tie against Everton - a game I have us down as drawing.

Keep the faith, UTV!

I'd play a totally different 11 for the Bolton game. Now I know MON won't but for me 4th is over so lets give the younger players/ reserves a bit of a run out and rest up the players MON wants playing at Wembley. It maybe a case of all our eggs in one basket, but me its our only basket!! UTV

When I did the predictor on the BBC website 3 games ago I had us finishing 4th on 69 points. Redscouse were 5th on 66 points. I had us down to get beaten at Chelsea and ManCity. I had us down for a point tomorrow. The rest of the results have pretty much gone to form. If we win tomorrow, beat B-lose and Blackburn, draw with Bluescouse, beat Hull and Pompey and lose to ManCity then we will finish on 67 points. If you look at the fixtures of other teams, 67 points will be enough for 4th. Or we could lose tomorrow, go on a downward spiral and come 8th. But we might win the FA Cup. Point is, we are in the mix. We are having these games to look forward to you and it is exciting. In previous seasons before M'ON the only excitement was if we would stay up or not. And fans complained that we should be challenging at the other end of the table. Well now we are challenging at the right end of the table (for the thrid consecutive season), we have been to one final and are in the semi of the greatest cup competition in the world (the one that anybody under the age of 53 has not seen us win) and all we hear is doom and gloom from some muppets. Lets start supporting and talk the Villa up instead of dragging it down. When fans start talking a club down unsurprisingly that is what hapens to a club. Everybody who spouts their doom and gloom to anybody who will listen are actually being anti Villa. If you have doubts, keep them to yourself until after the season has finished, then moan and groan all you want . . . . . . if it makes you feel better. TBAR

londonbasedvillan the pride is there, the cheers are loud during a game (ignoring the few boos!) but football is always about debate, who you want in, who you want out, which players you would play, what formations etc. That is what it is all about for us all. Most of us sane ones know that only one persons decisions ultimately matter. FFS, you'll send me bust mate! lol

8th at best, on the last game of the season if we need to win 14-0 to make 7th some of you on here will be banging on about how we won't do it if we don't get behind the team, how if only you believe we will win 14-0, deluded anyone?

Bolton Wanderers away is always a tricky fixture, never an easy place to return from with all three points in the bag. We are however more than capable of winning there this weekend if we are at the top of our game, and with still plenty of football yet to play this season, whose to say what the make-up of the top four will be come seasons end? Its never over 'til its over, so enough of the negativity while there's still a fighting chance. Getting behind the team is now the most important thing, starting at The Reebok on Saturday afternoon. A victory there, and the whole scenario could change completely.

whatever happens over the rest of the season I'm a happy Villian! We would of all took a trip to Wembley at the beginning of the season and we've been/going twice!!! The team have done us proud this season, its far from doom and gloom.

ant1ant1 I bet you are great fun at a party. You simply don't get it do you. We may finish 8th. But we may finish 4th (or 5th or 6th or 7th). We may or may not win the FA Cup. I have read the posts above and I don't see anybody who is deluded. I see lots of people staying positive and appreciating that the season has been as positive one. You sound like the sort of bloke that if you are on the way to spend the night with Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Kirsty Gallacher (my favourite) you would refuse because you might have a heart attack, or a headache, or a spot on your arse . . . . . .or whatever pathetic reason you can think of to be miserable. Cheer up. One day you are going to die, you may as well enjoy the ride before hand. Or you can carry on being Mr Doom and Gloom.

Voiceoftheholte, you couldn't actually be further from the truth I regularly spend evenings with Kylie and Cheryl and Kirsty, just because I can see the wheels falling doesn't make me a bad person, I want us to do well, I love being a Villa fan, I was happy with MON for 3 years, but the awful brand of football has worn me down and the regular home draws against poor sides, I don't want us to finish 8th, but pretending everything is great when it obviously isn't, is what is going to perpetuate the problem, I want an end to it so I can look forward to a home game against West Ham again, if you think the fact that I have a different opinion to you makes me miserable you would be wrong

We can still get 4th, but its highly unlikely at the moment. We willl need city, liverpool n spurs to slip up there hard games aswell as some games they are expected to win, who knows?
