Villa's Battle For 4th Place - Update 4

Villa Update in battle for 4th!

Update in battle for 4th

Last one: Villa's Battle For 4th Place - Update 3

Down but not out!

Hiya, Quick update following the recent draw with Sunderland and Manchester City's reversal to Everton.

I had us down correctly to draw this one, so our estimated points total remains at 66.

Man City I also had to draw, so they drop a point, also to 66!

How exciting this is starting to become! It would be nice if we can get anything from Stamford Bridge, as I have us down to lose...

For the games on Saturday/Sunday I have:

Villa loss vs Chelsea,
Spurs to beat Pompey,
Liverpool to beat Sunderland

This is now my predicted finish:

4th - Tottenham - 67
5th - Aston Villa - 66
6th - Man City - 66
7th - Liverpool - 64

As you can see, very close.. A point or more for the good guys against Chelsea would be a very good result...

What about Everton?

Good posts these. I like the way you combine predictions for us and the others, while being conservative about it. Also a lack of knee jerk reactions, objectivity is good to see. Not always easy to stay that way but with conservative predictions it's possible. Good work Thorpy

if spurs get results from that month of horrid fixtures, they fully deserve it.

Hi d8ost... i have spurs to get 2 points from those 4 games... a draw with city and chelsea, but to lose against arsenal and man united. One big win for them there and it could be theirs.... having said that, spurs are certainly capable of losing all 4 of those :s krfeskivilla - good point... i have them now to finish on 65 points after that win against city! I'll add them into the next update.

All of the pretenders have and will drop points. We (spurs) have thrown wins away at the likes of Everton and worse against stoke (home game) and wolves twice to name a few. I dont see us getting much from the games against the top 3 so on those weeks you, Liverpool and Citeh...possibly Everton now too can grab it back there. But!!!...as this season is showing anything can happen. I thought you would beat Wolves last night and i had Citeh down for a point so god knows what way this is going to go....good though aint it :)

One more thing..i have it the same as Evo though Thorpy. I think 70 points is the magic number for 4th. So if my boys (spurs) lose to Man U, Arse and Chelsea we can take it if we win all our other games...simple huh.

Wolves and Sunderland are the very reason we will be 7th this season behind Everton, Liverpool & Spurz

Rest the players for the FA cup. - with spuds winning yesterday that means the europa league will go down to 7th

Lost_In_Ca - you REALLY want a place in the stoopid Europa Leeg???? The Fulham game was fun but they can scrap the joke tomorrow for all I care! On last night's note, I love MON but what the hell was Dunne playing injured when we have Curtis and Carlos there???!!! And Luke could have gone to RB. And Milly being injured? Where was Delph????? I'm annoyed today...
ljkal
p.s. how did the Fonz do last night?
ljkal
so we are going to win 5 of the last eight games ?5 of them being away from home ? we have won 3 games this year ? wake up and smell the coffee its groundhog time !
villan57
Lijkal, he was rubish
PTP
@ ljkal - win the FA Cup is what i mean - you know a bit of silverware. since when did coming 4th (and having to play prem rounds in CL) become more important than a cup? - forget 4th - its gone, we might be able to hold on to 7th - but we should throw all our "eggs" into winning the FA Cup. Play the second (?) team in League

No way was Fonz rubbish. He showed good touches and great potential BUT IMO he isn't ready to start games YET. He will be, but not yet. Also I'm sure Delph is injured. Sidwell did well the short time he was on. 4th place IS still a possibilty BUT we will have to put in some top displays with tired players. I agree that if Spurs are still in 4th after the next 4 games they will be massive favourites

keep the faith. Think spurs might make it but if Liverpool finish below us all the better!
Villaninthemerde
thought he did well ljkal. Not the finished article yet, think very harsh saying rubbish PTP!
The Fear
as long as we get more points than last year and get into europe i will be happy obviously the higher up the table the better and fourth would be fantastic but weve had a really successful season in my eyes regardless.

Great article. Im not suprsied at all by Villa, City or Spurs dropping points galore. People are predicting 70+ points which i think is madness, none of us 4 are great teams and we all lack consistency barring Liverpool (Who are consistantly *****e). However i do think Liverpool could sneak it, if they grind some wins out its theirs if City falter. City same and are still in the driving seat imo. Only way we (Spurs) will do it is if we A) Get Lennon back and then B) Beat either Arsenal or Chelsea or both at home. Otherwise i think we'l just miss out.

Liverpool won't do it, their away record is exactly the same as Wolves'! And as for the Fonz, i don't think you need to have seen him play to guess how good he is/isn't, just look at the fact that Heskey always starts ahead of him despite being the 2nd worst 'striker' in the PL (behind the mighty Jason Scotland).

Any single one of those teams could nick 4th... including ourselves. Here's hoping for at least a point at the bridge!
