Thought I'd type this up into an article as I think there's certainly some merit in this question... Could Delph Be Our Next Ashley Young?
Currently, we have Ashley Young and Stuart Downing playing on either flank, with the occasional swap (still prefer Young on the left myself!).
Downing, although having some reasonable games, hasn't quite settled yet in my eyes and I think Wolves was one of his worst to date. (As Fear says, maybe a pre-season to get him settled in?) Also, he's played centre mid before for Middlesbrough... a position he apparently excelled in.... Milner and Downing CM anyone? :o)
So my thought was.... could Fabian Delph play as our next Ashley Young out on the left wing?
The guy seems to have everything in his arsenal to play the position - he can certainly beat his man given half a chance, has a great shot, a good eye for a pass and can track back and tackle.
The only question remaining.. can he cross a ball?
I'm sure he likely could do... just imagine both Delph and Young bursting down either flank - would certainly put a shiver up the opposition each time!

Or maybe we are just rotating the subs to keep their backsides fresh after warming the bench!
At least when it comes to the business end of the season we will have two fit right backs to see us through.
Anyway to address the article, not a chance. The reason being is that he would not be picked (I refer readers to my forst sentence above).
