Gabby Set To Miss Sunderland Clash

Sky Sports have a video conference with Martin O'Neill .... Click Here

The Villa boss admits that Gabby Agbonlahor won't be fit for Wednesday nights game against Sunderland as he has is still recovering from a stubbed toe.

He told Sky Sports that Gabby is improving but that Wednesday will be a game too soon.

'..the scans are okay and he's improving, but it's slower than we thought.'

Damn, his pace has been missed and no, I'm not going to mention who should start with John Carew ! :o)

Dissapointed with this news, he was missed on saturday and will be missed tommorow night. Aslong as young, milner, carew and downing are on form then we should still get the win but heskey must perform better (ive said that so many times haha).

He has scored a hat trick. I remember one for Liverpool against Derby back in 2000. However, he doesn't score enough, enough said.

sorry p.villa i didnt mean yourself i just menat the general heskey negativity. I also dont think hes good enough for us, but ill be behing him 100% while he continues to put 100% effort in. Hes so frustrating as he should be a great centreforward

At least with Heskey you're guaranteed 100% effort, even if it's not always good enough. Carew is one of the best strikers in the league if he's giving it his all, but that doesn't happen often enough. It's obvious we need at least one new striker, but there's nothing we can do about that until the summer, so we should support the players we've got for now. However, I do worry when Carew and Heskey play together, because they're too similar - I'd rather see Delfouneso given a chance, or Carew up front on his own with an extra man in midfield.

Carew and Young would be different. If he cant get in at 'right back' then stick him up front

only joking. Id stick Carew up with Ashley and give Albrighton a run out

avjc, its a decent shout, could also play 433 play ash and downing just wide of carew, milner petrov sidwell in the middle, give us more movement going forward

Gabby's pace is sorely missed. He really does scare the living daylights out of defences at all levels and drags players away to make space for Ash and whoever else might be playing alongside him. I hope he's rested and goal-hungry when he comes back.

Why not try Milner at Centre forward .. i reckon he'd get a hat trick

Agree with those that aren't too timid to agree that Emile Heskey always gives his 100%. It seems that anyone and everyone are only too ready and willing to heap flak upon the big guy, its good to hear that he still has his supporters. Count me amongst them. No, he's not amongst the most goal-hungry of centre-forwards that we've seen at Villa Park over the years, indeed at a time when we are crying out for a consistent source of goals from our front men, he can be both frustrating and irritating, but I would suggest that the amount of abuse that he is receiving right now, is both unfair and unneccesary. We have to have our scapegoats though, that has been a feature of Brummagem B6 down the years, and lets face it, while Heskey is getting it in the neck, a.n. other is getting away relatively unscathed.

Why GazJohnson? He never got a kick up at The Stadium Of Light, why should the return encounter at Villa Park be any different?
glensider
Oh I see GazJohnson, I understand it all now. You're a Sunderland laddie. My apologies. Now like sticking up for your own. Pity we Villans dont do the same. Which Sunderland will be turning up GazJohnson? The team that battered us in the Carling Cup tie, and were very unfortunate not to progress that night, or the team we completely outplayed in the premier league encounter? I'll settle for the latter please, even though you were Bent-less in the former.

I really respect your opinion glensider and enjoy your match reports but i think Heskey just isnt good enough but a.n. other is one of my favourite players and can see your point because i was getting annoyed with the flak a.n. other was copping just a few weeks ago . All Heskey has to do is start scoring goals and people will get off his back .. cant see it happening though .

Yes let's not be negative about Heskey......he doesn't score goals, jogs around like a spectator, has no pace, no vision, doesn't make runs......but he does 'hold the ball up well.' So would a shelf and it would cost a lot less. Heskey gives 100%!? I think we are watching different teams.....remember Warnock narrowly missing a sliding shot against Wolves? Where was Heskey....about 10 yards away having a nice jog around the park. Not good enough for Villa, not good enough for England, simples.

A shelf :-)

If I played for Villa I'd give 100%. I am not premier league quality, however much I effort I put in though. So there I said it, there's 2 of us who ain't good enough, me and Emile. If I was Delfounso I'd be mortified. There's a player on the pitch who has as much goal threat as a bumpy bit of turf on the edge of the box, then there's young Nathan who's got the best goal per minute ratio at the club, and he's baerly had a run-out, despite being a really quite similar player to the one who's looking the most likely to score with our way of play. I'm not against our manager, I think overall he's doing an excellent job and agree entirely with the statement he made about being in a semi, getting to another final and being a contender for 4th, but he can be so frustrating at times, he's the most conservative manager in the league, by some distance.
lorenzo
I'd give 110% (but only in a game of two halves and if given a second bite of the cherry) AND I'm not good enough either. Can I play please? (I'd be over the moon.) Oh, and I can fall down.
144wittonlane
I disagree with those that say Heskey gives 110%.... his workrate is OK, but where is he when balls are crossed into the box? Answer - usualy somewhere around the centre circle! Look at those 2 goals Carew scored against Wolves... offside or not, he was actually INSIDE THE BOX!!
