Bouma Hopeful For End Of Season Attendance

It's been a while since we had a Boum Boum update, so here you go, it's a Boum-meister update.

Freddy Bouma has popped up on the Official Site, well to be more accurate Martin O'Neill has popped up on the OS talking about Bouma and it's all good, positive stuff for our injury ridden left back.

After repeated breakdowns following the horrific ankle injury he sustained against Odense in the InterTwoBob Cup a few years back, Freddy is now back in training as we know, but more importantly he's progressing well and his fitness is coming along nicely.

'He is slowly but surely getting back to fitness.'

His progress has been so good lately that Monny is also harbouring thoughts that he could be back in contention for the first team before the end of the season.

'Mental fitness will come with physical fitness, and the physical fitness will come when you have decided you have overcome the injury and it won't bother you again. I think with a wee bit of luck Freddie has got over that stage.'

As ever O'Neill is impressed by the commitment and attitude shown by Bouma, who himself has targeted a return to first team action before the curtains close on this season.

'I spoke to him two weeks ago - and it is his ambition to be fit for the run in of the season and it's really 95% down to Freddie himself.'

I certainly wouldn't bet against seeing him on the bench in the coming weeks...

Ok who thinks if he plays it won't be at left back, right back, centre back, centre forward anyone

difficult to see him getting in unless we get injuries. Surely MON won't move Carlos from left back and then Luke Young would be the obvious replacement if Carlos (who just isn't right at left back, that doesn't read very well does it?) unless there has been some fall out with Luke. can't believe he isn't in the team, he is a really good left back in my opinion and doesn't get exposed for position like our very good centre back filling the spot does. All baffling really

that said, if he does feature, I hope it is at home, imagine the reception he'll get?

We arent really in a rush to get Bouma back for this season as we have enough depth already, if a cb gets injured then cuellar can go cb and luke young rb and if warnock gets injured then luke young can go left back and habib beye right back its simple really. i think luke young should be playing right back every game really and cuellar into cb with dunne as he is probably more solid than collins and young is a natural rb and better going forward.

I still don't think we will ever see him playing for us again.

I tend to agree with young_jonah I'm afraid. As pessimistic as it might sound, even if he does make a complete and full recovery, I cant see where he would fit into this current Villa team. We have moved on, progressed, new faces have arrived at the club, and his route into the starting eleven brings him directly up against some quality new faces, that have arrived at the club since he suffered that horrendous injury.
