Acorns 450 Challenge update: Vital Villa Acrons450 Challenge Grows
So there was I, at the New Wembley for the first time. Now I might have had a slight hangover, although I still maintain I think the ice in our last JD was off, not the copious beer before hand! We were all frisked as we went in, with the numbers wanting to come in, you would think they'd have a line of staff to do it, nope, just the one. The mad thing was the women didn't even have their bags checked, do they not think that if there are chaps wanting to take 'something' in they would just give them to the ladies who aren't searched?! lol Anyway, into Wembley we walked, having given up on the pubs which were rammed. I thought, as a magic cure all, I'd get a packet of sweets. This is how the conversation went at the kiosk. JF (for it is I!): Hi Mate, can I have a packet of munchies please? John Carew has backed Fabio Capello's men for World Cup success, insisting: 'I will be cheering on England.' Full article: www.avfc.co.uk

Something that wrangles on me a little bit this afternoon is a comment that was made, mainly in passing, by England boss Fabio Capello. His assertion is that Stephen Warnock has improved as a player since his move to Aston Villa. Now this is not a stab on Villa or his form for his current club, Warnock has been about as reliable and hard working as anyone in the second City. But it is quite patently obvious that Fabio paid very little attention to his form or his performances when Stephen donned the blue and white of Blackburn Rovers. Villa will face Newcastle United in the FA Youth Cup semi-final if they beat Fulham next Tuesday at Craven Cottage.
Our latest poll asks who you would most like to face at Wembley in the FA Cup final (if we get there obviously!) I have had this conversation with a couple of blue nose neighbours, one thinks a local derby for an FA Cup final would be great the other agrees with me, it would be too much to control, too stressful and there would be all sorts of 'incidents' going down, at the ground and going home. I personally think it would be a nightmare and can you imagine if the unthinkable happened? You'd never live it down! Full article: Who Would You Like To Face In FA Cup?
Fieldy: James Milner is obviously 'massively disappointed' following the Carling Cup loss last weekend, but he's pleased he can fall back on the England game and keep going. Full article: Milner Disappointed, But Not Down
From Villa: The Board, Senior Management and playing staff of Aston Villa Football Club would like to thank all of the Villa fans - both at Wembley Stadium and watching around the world - for their fantastic and heartfelt support of the team on Sunday. You were magnificent and we want you all to know how much that support is valued by everybody at the club.
Fieldy: Fabian Delph has said he felt like he already knew James Milner before his move to the Villa owing to the stories of the Leeds backroom staff. Speaking on the Official Site on this bright and early morning, Delph said the Leeds coaches used the midfielder as an example for the young players to look upto given Milly's work ethic and behaviour, both on and off the pitch. Full quotes: Reputation Precedes Milner
Fieldy: Nathan Delfouneso has been called up to Stuart Pearce's U21 side for the clash against Greece. Speaking on the Official Site Delboy admitted that he found out via his 'mum' but is obviously more than pleased to have been selected, and he's hoping a good performance could put him closer to our first team. 'It popped up on Sky Sports News. My mum told me.' Full article: Delfouneso Makes The Step Up To U21's
Fieldy: Luke Young has revealed that he didn't feel like England ever took him seriously as a right back, and that's why he quit England. Speaking to the Express and Star today Luke said he was fed up of being picked for one game in ten but only when somebody else was injured, and at his age now, he feels it's probably right for a younger player who can turn out for the next 4-5 years to stake a claim instead. James Milner has basically issued a 'give me a shirt and I will play' statement, which kind of sums up the Aston Villa man really, right? He is a 'proper' footballer! With Wayne Bridge 'unavailable' Milner knows that this is a setback but knows that it is now time for us to 'move on' and if that means he plays at left back, so be it: 'I've had 15 minutes experience at left-back but that was for England. If I'm asked to play there I'll do the best job I can. Full article: James Milner Will Play Anywhere For 3 Lions

Stan Collymore has urged Villa's battlers to keep their chins up after the Wembley defeat - because he fully expects them to contest more cup finals in the coming seasons. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk
Brad Friedel said after the Carling Cup defeat: 'Hopefully we'll get back here in the FA Cup. 'We were determined to try and get through in the FA Cup anyway. But it will make us all the more determined.' Full interview: www.avfc.co.uk
Thought for the day: I went out with a girl from a petrol station. When it ended I was very upset. To this day I can't drive past the place without filling up.
