Brad Friedel insists Villa will be even more determined to return to Wembley in the FA Cup after Sunday's defeat to Manchester United. The goalkeeper is eager to go back to the national stadium for another shot at glory following the Carling Cup disappointment. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk
Stiliyan Petrov described defeat at Wembley as tough to take - but says Villa can be proud of their efforts. The skipper revealed his disappointment after the Carling Cup final defeat to Manchester United, despite a commendable performance from the claret and blues. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk
James Collins spoke before the final saying how happy he is at Villa. Fieldy: James Collins is more than happy with the start to his Villa career, and I doubt today will change that. Speaking on the Official Site prior to today's referee and tactically induced loss to Man U in the Carling Cup Final, James Collins was adamant he was more than happy with the start to his Villa career and he couldn't have wished for it to have gone any better. Collins commented a Cup Final medal this quick would've been brilliant, but sadly it wasn't to be. However that shouldn't change what has been achieved so far, and what Collins has helped achieve so far (this may be the only positive article I am capable of today folks so make the most of it!). 'You can tell around the place how excited everyone is so it is great for us. I knew it was a big club before I came. I jumped at the chance to come to Villa.'
Martin O'Neill has rubbished rumours linking him with the Man U job when SirAlex finally retires, saying it would be an impossible job. Speaking to SSN in what really is a non story, especially for today, O'Neill said he'd never even thought about the United job, not even during his time at Celtic. He adds to follow Fergie would be 'an impossible job' and goes on to talk about how many times United have won the league, and the fact that whoever follows him into the United hotseat will simply be unable to immediately match the success the club are used to. Forum member He'sBiggerThanMe&You said of Gabby Agbonlahor: 'I haven't seen it mentioned much but yesterday (v Palace) Gabby once again improved his goal tally from the previous campaign by getting his 14th goal of the season, that's four years on the spin that his record has improved, it's amazing how he's developed over the past few years, from a kid who'd been stuck in Luke Moore's shadow for much of his time in the youth set up, who failed to impress on two separate occasions whilst out on loan and deemed a 'speedster with no football brain' by many of his own fans, to the fearsome lad we see leading our attack today, his confidence personified by his knack of scoring on the biggest occasions i.e against the top four and in derbies.
