Vidic Ref Was Right
Well that settles that then, according to the Oracle that is Red Card Dodging Vidic, Phil my boots Dowd got it spot on today.
Speaking to SSN after picking up his shiny medal and doing his best to ignore camera replays, the Serbian commented coyly:
'I think nothing about the red card, I didn't think I would get it to be honest.'
He then continues to say in pure Wengerest speak:
'I will need to see it because sometimes you don't see so well in the game. (he missed it, did he play with his eyes closed?!?!)'
He does however amazingly admit he didn't think he'd get a red card because in his mind:
'I got in front of him, not behind. If I had then yes.'
Presumably if he'd got behind it would've been a red card...I await the next appeal, I took him from the lower quadrant therefore I shouldn't have even been booked. Assassins can use this - I shot him with the sun behind me therefore it's not murder. What's the old freeman law...you can shoot a Welshman gone midnight as long as you face a clock tower as long as you use a bow and arrow???
Vidic....the DICKins of our age ladies and gentlemen! Oscar Wilde and Eric 'the seagull' Cantona can't hold a candle to this geek.
Then again if he's sure a professional foul only warrants a red card if you are behind somebody, then he probably has a better grasp on the law than most referees so I can't fault him for that.

Gary Linekar hit the nail on the head. The ref. was scared of "holy Fergie" who had just recently critisised him for sending off too many Utd players. Whether they deserved it or not was another matter. I don't know if its just me, but just lately there are so many crucial games injustly lost because of poor ref. decisions. Or we complain more frequently? After the "mother of all poor ref. decisions" "the hand of God" in 1986, which put England out of the WC in the quarter finals, didn't even lodge an official complaint with Fifa. There again, the Germans still haven't forgotten 1966, but they are just spoil sports!

the ref bottled it, simple as that. You can't give a pen for a defender - the last man - bringing down an opponent without sending them off. They'd have struggled with 10 men v us for 85 mins + you would think that Owen would have been the player sacrificed? Looking forward to Dowd coming to Villa Park some game soon, he needs to be shamed! If that was Dunne bringing down a Man utd player he'd have been off. As Linekar says, Dowd is just scared of Fergie and the FA should be doing more about Fergies behaviour so they aren't so scared or in awe of him. Don't 'mind' losing if it is the right result but losing with a decision like that will always leave the what ifs. Not saying we'd have won, but it wouldn't have hurt our chances obviously!

just watched it on replay having got back from London. Sorry, that was a cast iron sending off. It is done and dusted now, we have to move on, but no good the player or anyone else saying it wasn't a red. Even Sir Alex Chewalot said they were lucky with that decision.
