Few Days Break For First Team

Martin O'Neill has decided against a 'spring' break away this year, and has instead given the lads a couple of days off instead.

Speaking on the Official Site today O'Neill said he has given the lads a bit of time off to enjoy life and recuperate before our next match against Burnley, because presumably it'll be all hands to the pump on the training field as we head into the Palace reply and the Carling cup Final.

In former years when time has allowed Monny has organised a training camp away from home for bonding, giggles and work but with how the fixture list has fallen for us this year when you factor in travelling, at least at this stage, the benefits of 'getting away from it' probably wouldn't be that great.

Especially as Monny mentions the weather...let's face it, we all know it's for the sun tan!

'There is a group of players who I have given quite a number of days off. They don't miss training, they don't miss matches and freshness is the most important issue.'

O'Neill adds that he's given a 'good number of days' to the likes of Ash, Milly, Downing - basically those who have played nonstop, so you'd assume those who haven't played lately will be back in quicker to keep working on their fitness and sharpness which is how it should be.

In injury news - Heskey and Gabby returned to training on Tuesday.

In Carling Cup Ticket news - the club expect to sell out all tickets today and will be making an announcement tomorrow.

Theyll have plently of time to work on their tans when they retire at 35 with a shed load of cash. Keep your eyes on the prize boys. MON hasnt won a game in March for as long as I can remember which could be a result of his 'spring breaks'

I actually find this very scary, I think he should be resting them during the FA cup game so that are all in good condition for the final, this seems to suggest he is letting them take a rest because they have 3 games in 7 days. I would like to see best 11 for the final and the Burnley game, but it would be worth resting 3-4 players for the replay. Beye, Davies, Sidwell, Delfouneso and Carew could all come in to give a few a rest. Especially someone like Petrov who is carrying an injury and having injections before each match, let him sit that one out.
