The Villa Times - 08/02/2010

Unoial Villa News...

Vital Blackpool asked how likely Villa are to re-call on loan Barry Bannan. Me being an - ahem - expect - cough - on these things gave them an answer! Vital Blackpool said: 'Aston Villa are likely to allow an extension of Barry Bannan's loan deal at Blackpool......that's according to the editor of Vital Villa!' Not quite what I meant really, I don't know if they will extend it, just that it is unlikely he'll be needed for our first team just yet...! Adding 'The teenage midfielder has been in sparkling form for the Seasiders since joining the club in November. This led to Ian Holloway landing the Villan until the end of the season but on the last day of the transfer window Martin O'Neill changed the duration to just an extra month, given the Premiership sides' injury worries'. Fieldy: Brad Friedel has said his clean sheets lately are down to the team and not simply little ol him between the sticks. Yes it's your typical, slow news day, fluff but I become discombobulated unless I do something useful during a day so I'm sort of honour bound to mention it. Speaking on the Official Site Big Brad didn't want to talk so much about the string of fine saves he made during the Spurs match, preferring instead to talk about the 'collective' team effort needed when it comes to clean sheets. Fieldy: Martin O'Neill is adamant that 4th place is still open for grabs, and that Villa are as much in with a shot of grabbing it as anyone else. Full article: Race For Fourth Place Still On
