Race For Fourth Place Still On

Race For Fourth Place Still On

Martin O'Neill is adamant that 4th place is still open for grabs, and that Villa are as much in with a shot of grabbing it as anyone else.

Speaking on the Official Site today Monny said that making a proper assessment on the chasing packs battle for 4th place was way too premature given the twists and turns that the Premiership will provide over the coming months, he is however simply happy that we are keeping pace with our immediate rivals.

'I think we are still in the race. I'm just delighted that we are even being considered and we are still there with it and we've got things to look forward to.'

Although Europe went a bit FUBAR this season, there's no doubts we've done well in our Cup runs - afterall we are in a Final!

So whereas last season it was 4th place or bust and we bust, at least this season we haven't stuffed all our eggs in one basket yet we are still up there and we do have a shot (if we can manage a few during a match) of taking the 4th place battle to the wire if we sort ourselves out.

Not for me. As the last few matches have proved we simply don't have enough firepower to trouble Spurs, Man City and dare I say it L'Pool (with Torres alone). The biggest worry is that teams below us will simply put another body in the middle of the park and stop us (just like West Ham did at VP). MON has no plan B so I think the coming months could be pretty desolate in terms of league goals and wins. If teams come and have a go at us then we are in our element (Utd on Wednesday is an ideal match for us) but I fear for the rest of the season. Sorry to sound so despondent (we are in a cup final after all!!) but I think we are better off going the FA Cup!! UTV

I have to make City and more likely Liverpool the two main rivals for the 4th place, it just seems like Spurs and Villa are just a little short in key areas.

Kenwyne Jones looks to be showing some good form. He is definitely the only English player I would look to as a big target man. I think we should look to him when season closes. At the moment in the League we are not firing but I have real belief that we will start firing over the next two or three matches. Call me stupid or blind but we will.

We are as capable as anyone else in securing 4th place (maybe3rd) A win over Man Utd on wednesday will send out a really good message of the teams intentions. UTV
