Young Baker Cooks Up A Wembley Ticket Storm
Tut tut, youngster caught being a plonker shocker!
Villa's 18-year-old Nathan Baker, who is on loan at Lincoln City at the moment, has been selling his allocation of tickets for the highest price he can get and very stupidly did it 'publicly' on facebook according to www.thestirrer.co.uk
It was only a few weeks ago that Nathan was getting much better press with Lincoln boss Chris Sutton praising the defender to high heaven:

AVFC have reacted quickly and correctly calling the youngster (think back to when you were 18 before judging I guess?!) calling him 'foolish' for his actions adding, 'All of the players were made aware that tickets for the Carling Cup final are available for their own use only and, following this incident, the message has been repeated to them.'
The club spokesman also pointed out the defender is young and 'he has a lot to learn' adding, 'His actions were naive and he is extremely embarrassed and regretful at having let down himself, the Club and Aston Villa fans. Any tickets that have been given or sold to players are for the use of their friends and family only.'
It appears players get 10 tickets each, in some ways that is a strange one as most players aren't fans so it is pretty obvious that some might offload the tickets but hey ho, what do I know... DON'T answer that, I've a fragile ego at the best of times!
Nathan has apparently also apologised and is quoted in the stirrer as saying: 'I appreciate that it is a privilege to be part of Aston Villa Football Club and one day I hope to play in the first team, but I understand that my behaviour off the pitch must speak as loudly as my actions on the pitch. I have been informed by the Club that I will no longer be receiving any tickets for the Carling Cup final and, while I will be sorry not to be able to cheer Aston Villa on at Wembley, I understand and appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me to have these tickets given my actions.'
Blimey I bet his Lincoln team mates are giving him one hell of a ribbing for this, the banter in dressing rooms is brutal at the best of times. I think the club statement is right though, he is young and stupid and will have learnt - I'm sure - a very important and for him embarrassing lesson not to let down his club.

Don't see why players should get any tickets to be honest. Priority to book them over fans maybe. But giving 10 tickets to a player who won't be playing anyway is ridiculous.

I actually saw the posting - he was looking £200 a pop and was going a countdown frequently updating '8 tickets remaining etc.' He had 10 for sale!! Unbelievable!!

10 tickets to the squad maybe... but a reserve player out at Lincoln?! Thats why I don't have a cat in hell's chance of getting a f*****g ticket and won't even bother trying. And why the hell are they GIVING them the tickets - just means they have to put the price up for the rest of us. Its all a load of corporate balls - no wonder nobody gives a shiny one about the cups any more. Its too devalued for me now, so I might turn up to the pub to watch it, or I might just do something more important.

It's true why should all of our reserve squad get 10 tickets, 2-3 would be more than enough, if any! He really must be di, to flaunt them of Facebook, the guy probably still earns way more than me!!!

Give the guy a break he is only 18, how many stupid things have we all done in our youth and teens? Its all part of growing up, he will learn, and become a better person for it. If he doesnt learn then its down to MON who, as we all know, doesnt suffer fools or stupidity within his ranks. However, I do agree the club dishing out tickets left right and centre to youth/fringe/loaned players is un wise when there will be lierally thousands of Fans who cannot go, or attend. But this is the fault of the FA, and there boner for big corporate business.

Stig, I dont know if many of us are actually blaming the player - but the actual allocation of 10 tickets per reserve/youth player is ridiculous. Those in the squad - fair enough. The others should have to attend as a team, one ticket per person, sit together in AVFC colours and be taught a lesson and paint a 'this could be you in 5 years time' picture! THAT will help their development rather than £2000 in their pocket for a brand spanking new TV to watch it at home!!

YES! Deano you beat me to it. Giving him 10 tickets maybe a little much but I think all members of the squad should be there in colours cheering on the team. The ones that have never made it before will feel/experience the Cup Final !!! (Sorry, still sinking in). This would be great motivation.

Interesting posts. Mikey D Man, the reason you will not get a ticket is because you do not come and support the club enough. Those that put their money in will get tickets with absolutely no hassle. It is not because a couple of hundred tickets tickets have gone to people who actually work/play for the club. If you have something better to do then go and do it. Villa fans (real ones) will be at Wembley or watching it on the box. For those complaining about the season card holder selling his ticket for a grand, get over it. He has put his money into the club up front, those that are moaning haven't. I don't think it is very ethical, but he has put his money in and can do what he likes. If he sells it to somebody who causes trouble, then the club can simply refuse to sell him a season card in the future. That is the chance he is taking. No doubt somebody who can't 'afford' a season ticket will suddenly be able to afford to become a glory hunter. Strange!! This Wembley ticket issue is simple. Employees and fans who put the most money into the club, get priority. If you are not an employee then the less money you actually put in to the club the less chance you have of getting a ticket. Simples!!!

As i said earlier, selling the tickets he was given wasn't the brightest move but banning him altogether is harsh!
