FA Cup Trip To Selhurst Park For Villa

Very slack of me I know, I should have come back on last night after seeing the FA Cup 4th round re-play result that gave us our opponents for the 5th round but hey, I was having a life away from the computer. Happens very rarely!

Anyway, better late than never as my ex used to tell me!

The opponents will be Crystal Palace with a trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday February 14, with a rather bizarre 3.45pm kick-off.

Ticket news will follow including what our allocation for this televised match will be.

OK, would have been nice to face the Wolves with a short journey across the City but then again, (cliche warning) the cup is already a great leveller, so maybe it is better not to throw in a local derby to the mix?

This is the FA Cup. It's best to have excuses ready, whoever you are playing. Players exhausted. Players leggy. Injuries. Small squad. International duty. Oh, sorry, I was using last season's excuses. Pitch. yes, it has to be the pitch. Joking. It must be a Villa win.

Just a shame that the tie in London is at the worst ground in London. Selhurst Park is a hole of a ground.

certainly very winnable, but cup matches are seldom easy!

Wont be an easy ninety minutes, in fact far from it, not least because on their day Palace are quite a decent footballing side, more than capable of causing us problems if we're not at our best. Add that to the fact that I dont think I've ever seen us play particularly well on their patch (we came back from 2-0 down to draw a League Cup tie 2-2 - and that was probably as good as it got), and I dont think that I'm ready to start boasting about a quarter-final place in the competition just yet. Word of warning to Villans planning to drive down there on the day - give yourselves plenty of time. Its one pain of a road trip, and by the time you've negotiated the streets of London and reached Selhurst Park, your patience will be wearing very thin.
