'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Richard's City Love Dunne With

Finally a bad based Dunne pun! Richard Dunne is not 'gutted' he won't be facing his old club in the Carling Cup final.

It's a busy morning for Dicky Dunne on the Official Site today, not content with his thoughts on Arsenal and our league goal drought, he's back to refute suggestions that he's 'gutted' he won't be facing his old club Manchester City in the Carling Cup Final.

Yup, poor old Bazza has missed out on a shot at silverware after moving to Mancland for that very reason. Plenty of others are taking the pee, so I won't bother.

Stating categorically 'I play for Villa now' Dunne has no regrets over the lack of a City clash, he's just simply 'over the moon' to be in the Final regardless.

'It was going to be tough whoever we played.

'We've beaten United once this season so we know we can beat them again.'

How good is that sentence!

He's also right, Man U should hold no fear for us if we play to our best and if we enjoy the occasion and work hard. Even in games we have lost against them over the past few years, more often than not the scoreline has flattered them and our performances have deserved more.

That changed earlier this season when we gave them a dose of their own medicine, and there is no reason on earth why we cannot do that again.

The pressure will be all on United, for a host of reasons. It's just up to us to play our game, enjoy it, and not be too tired to lift the Trophy afterwards.

Immortalised as a Villa hero as of Wednesday night. Thought the run from his own half, beating half the Arsenal team before getting fouled by Big Sol was just brilliant. Was hoping I was going to see a 'worldy' moment... Gutted.
