AVFC Transfer Talk - One Gone + Habib Exit?

According to www.mirrorfootball.co.uk Villa have accepted a bid from Sunderland for Habib Beye who joined us in the summer from Newcastle United.

The report claims he former Magpie is talking terms.

Meanwhile, Mackams boss Steve Bruce has complimented Aston Villa in the way we have built the team slowly but surely.

'I’m still hopeful but I won’t just panic buy. I’m here for the long-term I hope and I want to make sure I build a proper team and a proper squad. Aston Villa are the role model with what Martin has done. It took him three-and-a-half years he was telling me to get the squad he wanted. That’s what we’re aiming to do.'

For those that are daft enough (?!) to question the money put in and the devotion to Villa by Randy Lerner a report in the Guardian makes interesting reading once again showing Randy has put his own money in and hasn't put a penny of debt on our books: www.guardian.co.uk/football

Craig Gardner has officially moved to Blues and says it is a dream come true: Gardner's Blue Nose Dream Come True!!

Has MON got a replacement RB lined up - to play second fiddle to Luke Young or is he happy with Carlos being second choice ? - surely not a return for NRC

Habib came here for a very modest fee, he hasn't done much wrong and now he seems to be off. Why?

Seems a bit silly to be selling him, he's the back-up. As soon as theres an injury, we're all be complaining again with lack of back-up! ruddy paper talk.

Madness to sell him IMO. Decent player.

My nephews friends neighbour who makes the tea in the offices at VP said we are selling Beye and Gardener to scrape money together to bolster a 20M bid for Hunterlaar, we hope to have him playing in time for the Carling Cup final!

Curtis Davies played right back for the baggies quite successfully before turning to CB, maybe its a bit of a plan to stick him in there as cover?

Probably looking at baby Brad at RB. In all seriousness I'm not really sure if that's true....unless the offer was above what we paid and we would be making a tidy profit. I never thought of MON as a wheeler-dealer!

I'd prefer him over Carlos as he appears to me to be a more solid defensive player because Carlos, when put under pressure seems to just break down. When Habib first played for Villa, he seemed to me to be a very good player but it seems that Carlos' reputation has regained his place in the team.

Can we really afford to allow Habib Beye, or anyone else for that matter, pack their bags and head for pastures new? Personally I think not. It seems pretty damn clear that we have no interest or intention of adding to the ranks this transfer window, and while MON has come out with the somewhat surprising statement that we need to offload before we can bring new faces in, I can see absolutely no sense whatsoever in offloading squad members at the present time, not if we seriously intend to push for a top four, five, six finish, and look at an extended run in the F.A. Challenge Cup. Injuries, loss of form and suspensions are bound to hit, and we dont want to be found lacking, well certainly not anymore than we currently are.
