Gardner's Blue Nose Dream Come True!!

Gardner's Blue Nose Dream Come True!!

Well, difficult to say when a player moves to the Blues... but good luck (sort of!) to Craig Gardner.

The deal is done and dusted and I think rightly so, he was never going to make our first 11 evidently, he was close but no cigar so best to move on and get his career back on track.

The official site said that the midfielder has signed a four and a half year deal with Blues.
He has, in a Birmingham Mail interview, also admitted he is a blues fan, so there you go:

'People say when you become a footballer it’s a dream come true but when you sign for the club you support, what more can you ask for? You just pinch yourself. I don’t think I’ve had more than three hours sleep this week. I’ve been on to my agent all the time asking ‘is it done, is it done’? and in the end he just told me to relax.'

Adding, 'I just can’t wait to put that blue and white shirt on, score some goals and help Birmingham City pick up points. There’s pressure on me. They’ve invested money in me and I’ve got to respond.'

MrZeus just sent me these quotes from Craig Gardner, January 2009:

"I was on the terraces for the (1994) Villa v Tranmere League Cup semi-final game...to see Mark Bosnich saving those penalties was absolutely unbelievable. For years I was a fan singing on the terraces. Now supporters are singing to me while I play. That's massive'

Typical ... they all kiss the badge to please the supporters when money is really all they are interested in. Although i have to say that i hope Gardner does well at Birmingham - just not against the Villa. Now lets find a replacement for him (if Delph hasnt already taken his place) and also NRC and Sidwell why we are at it - onwards and upwards

I remember reading a couple of years ago that Gardner, although born in Yardley, I believe, claimed to be a Villa fan almost from birth. Frankly, I thought this strange. When I was at school everyone from that neck of the woods i.e. east and south east Birmingham were blue-noses (even my then girl friend, but I put up with that) so I an not at all surprised he has come out in his true colours. One other thought, perhaps he is somewhat like the vicar of Bray or is it a chameleon? We may never know.

I was told by a lad who claimed to know him that he was a bluenose, I didn't believe it. So I am really confused now, a bluenose from birth that was in the villa terraces in 94? random.
