The Villa Times - 25/01/2010

Unoial Villa News...

The home derby game v Wolves - set for a Sunday kick off has now happily been moved to Saturday and selected for Sky. Kick off 12:45pm but that is better than messing around on the day of roast beef I think!? So the game will now be played on Saturday 20 March.

Sunday Mercury: GREEDY online ticket touts are trying to cash in on Aston Villa’s Carling Cup success by charging more than £1,300 for a pair of seats at Wembley. Details + quotes from me at the end of the article! www.sundaymercury.net

Martin O'Neill has never doubted James Milner's ability to give his all, no matter where he asks the versatile ace to play. Full article: www.avfc.co.uk

Fieldy: Well according to Chris Sutton, Nathan Baker is tailor made to fill that role if he keeps developing as he has done. Speaking to the Lincolnshire Echo (required reading in this house) former Villan Sutton praised Baker to the hilt and compared him to a 'young John Terry.' Owing to the relationship between Sutton and O'Neill, he has been able to secure the 18 year old starlet's services until the end of the season for Lincoln City after Villa agreed to extend the loan, and Sutton couldn't be happier. Vital Villa asked for your man of the match v Blackburn Rovers in the semi final return leg. Milner won (again) with 59% of the vote. Full results: Man Of Match v Blackburn Rovers Semi Final

The ever excellent Steve Wade: Anxiety to the power of ten. I flatter myself that I know what Total Football is all about, having seen the great Dutch sides of the Seventies but I was never that familiar with Nutty Football, that is, until I saw Villa's midweek Carling Cup semi-final against Blackburn. Razorbeef: There are quite a few things in life that I do not understand. There are things like why we call it a gambol, while everywhere else it’s called a rolly-polly? Why do I get very cold every winter despite living through at least one for every year of my life? And how can I be the only person in the world that just isn’t that into eggs? Thought for the day (from mock the week!): all the victims were deaf, dumb and blind, these were senseless killings!
