Villa Away To Wolves Or Palace In FA 5th Round

Villa have been drawn away from home against either Wolves or Crystal Palace in the 5th round of the FA Cup.

The ties will be played on the weekend of February 13th and 14th.

Wolves/Palace v Aston Villa
Manchester City v Stoke City
Derby County v Blues
Bolton Wanderers v Spurs/Leeds United
Chelsea v Cardiff City
Fulham v Notts County/Wigan Athletic
Reading v West Bromwich Albion
Southampton v Portsmouth

MF added: I believe the Wolves v Palace match will take place on the 2nd Feb, so we don't have too long too wait until we find out exactly who we will be beating on our road to two Wembley Cup Finals this season.

Not too bad, a home draw would have been nice but still a draw we are more than capable of winning.

when are palace and wolves replaying? watched the draw with my chelsea brother and villa dad. hate hate hate how easy chelsea ALWAYS get it in the cup.. but, certainly a potential banana skin if they play a weak side/cardiff turn up. if it ends up villa vs. wolves, we cannot let sidwell play!

Would love to have a crack at the wolves, then Blues or baggies at home in the quarters.....But whether its wolves or palace we've gotta fancy our chances of going through.....Interesting to see what team wolves put out against palace knowing the draw!!!

not the easiest of draws but not the hardest either!

I saw some of the Spurs - Leeds game on the box. Leeds remind me very much of the Villa resurgence in the mid-70s. We enjoyed some cup upsets (Sammy Morgan and Arsenal)because we believed in something significant happening around the club - we were on a march and it involved and was driven by the supporters. Not a fan of Leeds but that's what it triggered in my mind.

Could have been a worse draw, better than getting Chelsea away!

Think I'd prefer the Wolves over at The Molinuex, not least because we'll take considerably more supporters, but also because I've rarely seen us perform well at Selhurst Park down the years. Realistically, we should be more than capable of progressing through to the quarter finals no matter who we eventually end up facing, even if we have to bring the opposition back to Brum B6 for a replay. Neither opponent though will be particularly easy. but as leerj0 so rightly says, better off than facing Chelsea at The Bridge.

thats another good reason for playin wolves...we've not been to good down selhurst park over the years & I feel if we play wolves we will play our strongest 11 & we'll be more up for it being a derby an all.....also we owe ourselves a performance after the dissapointing league game their earlier this season...

With the exception of Chelsea I fancy our chances against any of the teams left in the cup, home or away. This is going to be our year

I want wolves, would be a great day out to go to the molinuex in a derby. We have an absoulute fantasitc chance to get to wembley twice this year as long as we stay away from city, spurs and chelsea evven though we could possibly beat all three but as long as we do stay away from them it will be an easy cup run till the semi's. Wolves next hopefully then baggies in the quarters and then blues in the semis with chelsea in the final!

I remember the game very well mc parland, and I'm only a young whipper-snapper. It was played at The Hawthorns on a snow covered pitch. Second replay of the tie, after a 1-1 draw at Villa Park, and a goal-less 120 minutes at The Molinuex. Hughie McIlmoyle scored a hat trick fot the Wanderers, Bobby Park I believe it was that grabbed our consolation. Wolves went on to lose to Manchester United in the quarter-finals.

thanks for the memories glensider your information brings all the dissappointment flooding back but lets hope we can add some happy ones to the villa's history this season.
